"My wobbly bits are intimidated by the gym-fit look. I always reply with a thanks but no thanks, even if I’d like to really (I realise this is due to my own issues!) x" Aw what? but if its something you'd like why deny yourself

"Do women actually like gym fit guys? Starting to wonder..." Depends how one showcases their body...if it's too in your face, it can come across as unattractive. And although the "dad bod" is getting traction nowadays, I believe most women still prefer a fit body

"Do women actually like gym fit guys? Starting to wonder... Depends how one showcases their body...if it's too in your face, it can come across as unattractive. And although the "dad bod" is getting traction nowadays, I believe most women still prefer a fit body " I seem to prefer slim/gym fit but not body builder type bodies, BUT a lot is to be said for the face. There's a lot of lovely bodies on here but if the face doesn't "match" then either it's nice to be friends or it's a no. Shallow? Perhaps. But I wouldn't expect everyone to like my face either (nor my body). I haven't really found myself attracted to what's described as a "dad bod" at all. Until we came looking on Fab, I hadn't really appreciated that I do seem to have a "type". Mainly because I wasn't really paying attention, other than knowing I find Mr KC attractive. In short yes, I like gym fit (but not body builder type) guys but need more than a nice body.....

"I fully appreciate that super fit men look amazing and i'm impressed by their dedication but as someone that isn't in the least bit gym fit its a big fat No from me, I would feel like the biggest piece of crap laid next too someone so toned and I wouldn't be able to relax or enjoy anything for feeling so embarrased about my own body. Dad bad or double dad bod is more my thing, but with big muscly arms " I'm a fatty but still seem attracted to slimmer guys. I do go to the gym/exercise. Mr KC is many, many kilos lighter than me.....

"I might be wrong but going off all the lads I know who are dedicated gym goers only a very small percentage only go for only gym fit women. For most of us can take it or leave it I’ve never in my life had a girlfriend who even trained let alone in a serious manner. " This really shocked me when I joined fab! I’ve met some very muscular guys and always just assumed they would go for gym fit girls! It’s not all about the body anyway…. You either click with someone, or you don’t xx

"Interesting points. Nice to know we aren't ruled out by all. And I agree with what the lad said...confident women are attractive, it's doesn't matter the body shape or type (which I guess is similar to what body shape a guy has? ...maybe a lightbulb just gone off in my head haha " Confidence is key, anyone that's confident in their self is more attractive but only to a certain level because you can be over confident. Life's bloody complicated

"The most important thing is a face. If the face is handsome the body can be normal, the guys height doesn’t have to be super tall and the penis doesn’t have to be donkey size. If a man was a top trump card a handsome face would be 100, gym fit body would be 40, penis would be 40, height would be 30. I’ll meet gym fit guys, I have met gym fit guys but ONLY if they’re handsome. I’ve worked in a couple of gyms and notice that guys that are not conventionally attractive have absolutely wicked physiques and super shredded, same as very short guys. That’s just my observation. " Body of Adonis.. face of Shrek.. I love a gym fit bod.. but yes you are right I will go for less gum fit if he’s handsome.. face is everything! But ideally I want both!

That's pure attraction for me.

It's not that I don't get why people of differing physiques wouldnt be attracted to each other, I get that. I'm attracted to men with very different physique to me, clearly. I just don't understand what anyone would want with me, especially someone who has a fit body, clearly takes care of themselves and is the polar opposite to me. I don't get it. I'll never get it. But I'm kind of glad that it turns out there may be something that at least one or two people are attracted to, even if they run the risk of crush injuries. Posh

"I often wonder why it's assumed that people with differing physiques wouldn't be attracted to each other? Me too, it's a bizarre way of thinking to me " I could get quite deep here but I’ll try keep it light…. It can be from growing up and being picked on for looking a certain way. The hot boys always went with the hot girls and this sticks with you. Not always the case but it was for me! Again it’s not all about looks! "I often wonder why it's assumed that people with differing physiques wouldn't be attracted to each other? It’s not really that. It’s more blimey look at him all toned and stuff what would he want with me wobbly me?! It's exactly that for me. Posh " I get that a lot of folks have target ideals in a partner, but in my case, the answer (at least to your last paragraph) is simple; I just dont see what you see as your negative features in the same way... Instead of seeing (as you put it) "wobbly me", I see irresistably gorgeous you. I see your beautiful eyes and the way they twinkle when you smile... I see your wicked mischievious sense of humour... your kindness and generosity of spirit - your warmth... and your snuggles are to die for by the way. We are measured by who we are and how we carry ourselves - not in feet and inches or pounds and ounces. As point of fact, having busted my hump in the gym for years trying to beat the hand that mother nature dealt me, I still see the painfully thin ginger kid in the mirror... and I still find it difficult to accept that anyone could find that interesting about me! It wouldn't do for us all to be the same - the world is a much more interesting place with a rich variety of everything

Some people who I encounter at the gym obviously have serious body dysmorphia and are, in a way, punishing themselves by putting their bodies through insane workouts. Nowt as queer as folk, as they say.

"There was a YouTube video of some lads doing a survey asking the public (young women) to choose their preference from the pics of different male physiques. The athletic look won by a distance. Dad bods and muscular physiques both had similar numbers of votes. Slender men received the least votes. " Isn’t athletic kind of muscly? Like muscly but lean (so not like a body builder) I’m so confused

So I'd say the votes would be skewed by that, and also by a bias that muscular young men are considered by many (especially young women) to be as described above. Interesting though. Well, they didn't suspect I imagine because the athletic guy was known for being 'geeky' looking and in clothing, just looked quite ordinary and the bodybuilder lad was trying to hide his annoyance/disappointment when they gave those above responses. But this is all based on the responses of a very narrow demographic.
