I’m in the mood of watching a coming of age film tonight. I wanna feel like a tight 18 yrs old girl who has no cares in the world but school exams, friends, getting d*unk and boys!
(I kinda miss those days …)
So, what films do you recommend?

Stand by me or Now and Then are good coming of age films , one for each gender.
If you're looking for something more complex, I may suggest Boyhood. It's a coming of age film about a boy, and what's unique about the film of that it was actually filmed over the course of about 12 years so you actually see the child (actor) grow up in real time along with his family. It's very special to see. |

When I was at secondary school the whole year had to watch a comming of age film. It was about 2 girls on a summer camp. One of them lost her virginty in a scummy shed and felt crap about the whole thing and the other lied about fucking one of the camp councillors and pretended the experience was amazing.
Anyway the the teachers in charge of this viewing proberbly should have checked the video tape first as the main trailer was Scanner Cop, an X rated film. I clearly remember the teacher panicking and trying to fast forward through the trailer only to play it right on the dudes head exploding in a bloody mess. |

Adventures in babysitting, the original with Elizabeth Shue. Guarantee, that the opening song will be stuck in your head all week and nobody leaves this film without singing the blues! |
