So I find myself home alone all day everyday
I'm meant to be working but im easily distracted by anything shiny or cute (or lovely bottoms on fab) . Can I have your recommendations of epic podcasts to fill the silence of a child free house during school hours.
Shagged married annoyed is up there for me but they are very vanilla which amuses me.
Love the Yvette Fielding paranormal one too.
What else is out there???? |

I’ve never listened to Shagged, married annoyed but my algorithms are constantly telling to to listen to it because of what I subscribe to. I listen to the Adam Buxton podcast which is him chatting to different people each week. Some I’ve heard of, some not. All interspersed with funny little jingles and adverts. I also listen to Distraction Pieces which is similar in terms of the chats (lots of the same guests) but no funny little adverts and jingles. My favourite is Off Menu. Ed Gamble and James Acaster talk to a different guest each week and the go through their dream meal. Really funny. Has me in tears most weeks. Highlight of the week for me. Because I’m a sad prick. I also listen to a couple of sports ones that f that’s your thing I’ll happily tell you |

I recently enjoyed listening to one called the battersea poltergeist.
Well I enjoyed it till listening at 4 am at work, plodding along by myself, didn't realise the cleaner had arrived till she tapped me on the shoulder and said 'morning!' On her way past me. Then I needed clean pants, and she needed new ear drums cos I screamed. ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

I’m a huge podcast binger. Due to my Scroobius Pip obsession I second Distraction Pieces. I’ve sobbed and pissed myself laughing with him.
Films to be buried with, history extra, pop master and Adam Buxton also make my subscription list.
For a giggle, I really enjoyed 2 Girls 1 Shop too ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Homo Sapiens is a great podcast on queer culture in the UK and wider world.
Heavyweight is a lovely light hearted podcast about people finally dealing with unresolved issues/baggage.
Not strictly a podcast as it’s based on a radio show, but BBC’s Soul Music is wonderful. A piece of music examined each week in terms of the impact it has had on people. Some amazing and moving stories.
Paris Lees’ The Flipside is also good - exploring contentious issues from different ‘sides’.
99% invisible and 20000Hz are two podcasts about design and audio design respectively. Both fascinating listens most episodes.
The Skewer is another BBC one. Hard to describe, but brilliant. Great satire meets excellent sound editing. |
