I've just been reading a really interesting article, on the internet that was printed about 12 years ago, talking about cigarettes used to be by sold to us as good for our health, they even had medical professionals claiming this.
Cigarette companies used to sponsor doctors lounges, and providing other benefits for them, in return for endorsement.
It's really interesting that back in the day they were actually considered good for us but now we all know that's completely not true at all.
There's probably other products that once offered to us as good for our health and are no longer areconsidered like that.
If anyone would like to read the article it is in Healio news, published on March 10, 2009 |

"Coke a cola - cocaine
Cough medicine - opium
TCP - a trace of high explosives (Phynol)
Sugar is used a amateur rocket fuel."
That's just because it's very energy dense. Hence why our cells like to run off it too. |

I thought no doctors 'actually' endorsed them, but said things like they "they can help you concentrate, but it's probably not a good idea to inhale smoke" and the advertisers chopped of the last bit of the comment.
I know they used to dress people as doctors and get them saying good things about smoking, but never actually stated the actors were doctors, just let the public assume.
The lesson here is, do not trust advertisements as their are their to sell products, ot tell you the truth.
Coke (cola) used to be sold as a medicine too. |

"There are a few products that were considered good for our health years ago that we now find actually we’re not.
I’m sure at some stage someone will discover vaping isn’t good
"
I'm pretty certain they have and even when there hasn't been much evidence health professionals have said it's obviously not a good thing. |

"The same goes for Asbestos. It's scary to think how popular it was just a century ago.
K
My mum played in it as a kid "
I did 7 years of asbestos removal and it's amazing how much of it is still around.
I've been in the building trade for 18 years now and it's still one of the biggest obstacles that we have when doing the initial scrape back and reveal.
This stuff was used for everything. |

I was told by my doctor that vaping isn't particularly healthy however if you are already a smoker and cant/don't want to quit vaping is a better alternative but not something that is good for your health but better than cigarettes. |

My great uncle when he was 15 during WW2 enlisted in the Navy lying about his age. Of course we were at war so they took anyone!
Anyway, he was deployed at sea on a warship but suffered terrible sea-sickness. His shipmates couldn't cure him and nor could the ship's doctor with all his potions. Eventually the doc sent him to the Captain. Possibly to be thrown off ship.
Now as my uncle said often, the Captain of the the ship was 2nd in rank only to God Almighty so what he said went. He really did rule the roost as it were.
"Do you smoke?" the Cap'n asked my uncle.
"No Sir, never"
"Well you do now. From now on you smoke 15 Menthols a day everyday. They're good for you."
So my uncle smoked Menthols and it cured his sea-sickness!
So he smoked Menthols all his life. He died a couple of years back when he was 92 yrs old.
Whenever anyone asked him not to smoke he'd of course stub it out but he'd insist he was 'only following Captain's orders"
