What do you plan to do after retirement?

I plan to move to Portugal or Spain and live my life where I don't have to freeze my balls in the cold.

Britain feels like 38 degrees below zero and zero wind

I'm not sure I'll be able to afford to retire!

"I'm not sure I'll be able to afford to retire!

Why not "

Despite working really hard, once I've covered all my bills and keep my children in clothes, food and a general good standard of living, I can't afford to save!

I don't pay in to my pension so won't get much from that.

I rent rather than own so no equity.

I don't have any rich family who will leave me anything.

My sons have however told me that when they are set up in life they want to look after me. Bless.

We have plans but whether we will follow through with them is another matter. Yes we will be comfortably well off in our old age but that is more by luck than any decisions we made in our younger days.

Never really think that much into the future. No idea what life will be like when I retire, in an ideal world I'd like to move to Dorset way and live by the sea but reality is I'll still be in my two bed maisonette, going up 7 flights of stairs once in a blue moon and watching repeats of the chase lol.

^^^This! Pretty sure the state pension will be consigned to the history books by the time we get there. Deaths in the workplace will increase exponentially as elderly workers die at their desk, are cremated with minimal ceremony before 5pm and their job reallocated by 09:00 the following morning

If I ever retire I might see about getting a job for a change, instead of having a hobby that happens to pay the bills, and soften the blows when they come.

Okehampton

I like frosty mornings, open fires and a strong stew. This is where I belong. It has my heart. I watch the seasons turn, the mist rise to reveal the deer in the field, the cold touch of granite, the warm embrace of the long grass by the river bank in June. As my horse clatters along stony path I feel connected to this place. These are my moors, this is my sunset. When I travel, I yearn for the laughter of my streams.

This is where the hares run like thunderbolts, where the fox barks and the badger grumbles. These are my forests of blue and white and green, this is where the honeysuckle warns me of winter and the catkins welcome the spring.

I belong here, though I have travelled far, this is where my heart is coddled, so this, dear OP, is where I will stay.

Me? Work till I drop, paying for a miss sold mortgage. Not much in pension pot. Not much savings. Keep having to pay for various repairs on flat and car. Green policies are costing me a fortune. Oh and gas n electric are going up.

Good job I don`t have any kids to support, never could afford them.

It's a doom and gloom on this thread....

I'm going to look forward to my retirement and hopefully have grandchildren by then to keep me going.
