For me personally, 2 x 500mg Paracetamol every 6 hours to ease the pain and fever, together with 1 x 60mg Sudafed tablet to dry up the nose so that I can breathe and sleep at night.
If there is a dry cough, I would take Pholcodine Linctus, the original formula with ethanol and sugar, as it tastes better.
The first night, I usually make a Hot Toddy with whisky, milk or soya milk, and honey, and take my dose of paracetamol and Sudafed with it just before I go to bed.
I usually sweat it out the first night, and feel better for it afterwards.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
The rule goes:
If you take cold cures it will last a week. If you don;t, it lasts 7 days.
There is nothing you can do to cure the common cold. All you can do is make it go easier, which usually involves alcohol. I have one myself right now too. Snot fun. |

"Lemon an ginger tea is always good" add some honey and sugar to this mix. Ive d*unk it in autumn and winter for years and havent had bad flu or any cold for all that time. The occasional sniffle for a half day is the worst..... best medicine is to not get ill.....

Chop up a small red chili, one of the hot ones, and a piece of ginger and put it in a mug, add boiling water and drink that a couple of times a day.
It may not get rid of it but it makes you feel better. Works for me.

Plus eat oranges or take Vitamin C supplements all year round. I also find that the flu jab not only prevents you getting the flu but it also seems to either cut out colds too or at least limit the severity/duration of them.
Get well soon coz we don't need a cold doing the rounds in here tyvm |

Since I've been having the flu jab, it has limited my colds. Strange that!
Bet I get a cold tomorrow now
