Hope she recovers. I had seen her up close a few times. Her skin was so smooth, almost glowing. Will be sad if she passes and her state funeral occurs during lockdown with low turnout. Trying to imagine the King's coronation with new money and stamps and a generation of people who will grow up and call us "old-timers" because we all lived during the Queen's reign. Proud to live in the 2nd Elizabethan era.

Depending on your take on history, we have had a monarchy for some 1200 years. Has it been perfect? Of course not and monarchies around the world have varied greatly, and ours needs a reset if it is to continue. However, love them or hate them, monarchies provide a societal focus for a nation. Ours has evolved into a fairly benign one. Contrast that with the US who went all republic instead and managed to fuck things up in only 250 years. |

I'm neither for or against. But there are a large number of people that have earned, deserve, and will get my respect. The Queen has part of it, but not all of it. I respect her as a person and her commitment to her "job" title. She is (on the surface) respectable in comparison to the rest of her clan.

While the majority of this comment is true she does in fact pass laws as the last signatory before the leader of the house and although the majority of her tasks are ceremonial she is the glue that holds the country on the worlds stage.
However the focus and coverage of what she puts her name to is mostly in reported thankfully.
Anyway each to their own but I hope she stays well for another fair few years and I will shed a tear when she passes on. |

What handing over is there to do? He has been served papers and has until end of October to respond to them. Good to see innocent until proven guilty still works in this country, unless you were there and witnessed it first hand, we have no idea if there is any truth in it.
You obviously don’t like any of them, that is your choice, but appreciate that others have a different view and to keep repeating the same things over and over, rude to people, isn’t going to sway individuals to your view. |

I’m by no means a flag waving royalist but I am further away from wanting us to be a republic. She is hard to criticise too much really and 70 years of service in her position must be respected. The one thing I do or did think is that she is a very good speaker, which on many occasions have been on difficult circumstances. Definitely more worrying is who is coming after her |

I genuinely didn’t think that I’d be so alone in not loving the queen. If you’ve been offended by anything I’ve said, that’s on you. FWIW I don’t wish death upon anyone and I hope that the Queen makes you all very happy for many years to come.
