Does anyone still do the ironing?
Do we need a support group for those who have quit?
I'll start - Hi, I'm Dee and I gave up ironing 8 years ago
I'm worried as we have a wedding in 2 weeks and I'll need to get out the old iron. Will I be able to give it up again after?
Seriously though, am I an oddity or is ironing a thing of the past? (I take no offence if you call me odd ) |

I do all the ironing in my house on a Sunday afternoon for 5 grown ups
Its the only thing I do around the house and I'm good at it
I catch up on films I've never seen while doing it as recommended by other fabbers
How sad am I |

"Here just observing which females enjoy ironing
I always iron my shirts for work, even the so called non-iron ones "
Clearly, a fellow gentleman that appreciates the fine crisp clean lines of a well ironed shirt. |

"I do iron still. I wear shirts most of the time and I leave them in the washing machine for longer than they should be "
There’s a tipping point ... not long enough in the drier and the bloody things are wet , too long in the drier and they are unironable. |

"I try not to wherever possible...I'm guilty of using my hair straighteners to iron blouse collars and then putting a jumper over the top so you can't see that the rest of it is creased "
Outstanding innovation! |

"I iron whilst watching TV at this time of the year.
In summer I get the extension lead out, take it all out in the garden, oil up and pour some Margaritas.
Best tanning schedule "
Oil and clean washing sounds like the stuff of nightmares!
Man, this thread is horny... |

I quite like ironing, I’m
Ex army so shirts are always sharp enough to cause injury. I iron my jeans and t shirts. Only thing I’ve stopped ironing really are my
Shirts, sports kit, I even iron my duvet covers |

"I only iron when it's necessary. I tumble dry and that is effective in wrinkle free clothes...if you get them out in time!"
Definitely I do this hack for t-shirts. It’s a life saver. If avoiding ironing was to save lives |

If you really haven't used it for a while, give it a blast on a towel or something first. Mine stained my shirt really bad after I hadn't used it for ages. |

"I try not to but smart shirts and trousers are necessary. Everything else can be hung up and the creases can fall out themselves! "
A few female friends have associated the merits of a clothes steamer. But I’ve so far avoided buying another gadget. |

Are we still talking about ironing here? |

I very rarely iron anything - occasionally iron shirts for my husband but I buy clothes that don't need ironing.
I once donated a gorgeous dress to charity because it needed ironing and was a pain to iron properly |

Thanks for the heads up.
As it happens the weddings in Scotland so we'll be using my father in law's iron. I'm sure he uses it fairly often so I won't worry about it malfunctioning and staining anything |

"I'm a dab hand at ironing shirts........
And putting a razor sharp crease in trousers too! "
I’ve never put a crease in my trousers. I leave that to the experts. But when I have done so, I’ve made a mess. |
