A snake that is so dangerous that it kills more humans in India that all other snakes put together.
It was found in a shipping container in Essex that came from India and was very aggressive. It is now in a locked box in a locked room. There are more questions than answers here. |

The only question I can think of is what are all these questions?
A snake got into a shipping container, shipped over and got caught. That sort of thing happens a fair bit. |

The good news for India is the one snake that kills more people than all of the other snakes put together has been captured. |

Was it put there deliberately?
Was it put there as a decoy?
What training in snake recognition do port workers have?
I personally would treat every snake as bloody poisonous until I know different. |

"Imagining what the bastard offspring of this viper and local snakes would be like? Hmmmmm. Lots to think about
Do you think a saw scale can mate with an adder?"
Almost certainly. I'd imagine a hybrid would be absolutely huge with massive fangs *nods head* |

Yes, there's actually a conspiracy by Indian port workers to take over the British Isles by releasing dangerous snakes into our midst. Once the last Brit succumbs to the vipers, the Indian Port workers will invade and get their own back for the Empire era. I read it on t'internet |

"Let’s hope that locked box and that locked room stay locked. "
Well I won't be the one going in. The box is padlocked and the room locked. And that's in a reptile sanctuary were these people know what they are doing. What interests me is the assumption that this was the only one. Who knows how many more lurk in the container?
There may even be a pregnant one with babies inside her. All I know is that a bite from this would have been curtains for the repient. This is one of the most poisonous snakes on the planet... They don't keep it locked away like this for no good reason. It's all over the Essex Press... |

Not a great time to be living in Essex. I’d be selling up and moving to Greenland. Good luck to them trying to slither there! |

Believe me.. this is one of the most poisonous snakes in India. It accounts for more human deaths than all other Indian snakes combined. I would of thought it was the cobra but this bugger is bloody dangerous. Even the experts keep it in a locked box behind a locked door. Imagine if it had escaped into a school.. |

"Snakes are not poisonous. Many are venomous, but not poisonous."
If a snakes spits, such as a cobra and you inhale it, it is poisonous. If you were to bite the head of a venomous snake it could be poisonous. Other than that they are likely to be venomous |

These labels are pedantic.
It's like three passengers on a ship that is going down. One argues it's sinking, one arguing it's capsizing. I am just running for the nearest lifeboat and getting the hell out of there .... |

"This bugger will be dispatched. Why would India want a killer back that kills more people than all the rest put together.. "
Will they pay for the return postage? We should only send second class unless we can claim back the expenses for 24hr delivery |

I didn't know anything about the birds and the bees. Then I discovered the internet movie database's web site. Now I know about films about spiders and snakes too. |

"I think everyone agreed.
Too dangerous to return and India will not want him..
He can gently be put to sleep"
"Dear Essex,
We note that you recently received a stowaway viper from India. We'd like you to send it back to our shores, PDQ. Please find enclosed an SAE:
Mr. N. Mohdi,
A Big Shiny Palace,
Delhi
India
Please do NOT use Hermes. They left the last one in an unsafe "safe" place and, well. We've just settled the legal bill."
I think they want it back, Tom *shrugs* |

"Put the bugger to sleep..
"
Why? Why can’t he/she, go to a zoo so people can stare him/her down and he/she can live her/his life out in a glass tank - we are the UK, not Australia |

Let's hope that either a zoo or someone who holds a dwa licence is able to look after the snake! As it's not a type seen rarely in the UK zoo's.
From memory though in relation to a post above,I think there is a species of Keelback which is noth venomous and poisonous |
