Christmas party season not far away who’s got one where they work ?

Does anyone really enjoy them and what’s the best gossip from one you have attended in the past ?

I hated the christmas parties in one company. Why pretend to like the people you work with for one night, when they go back to snarling at you for doing your job the rest of the year.

Quite a few years ago, back when I would have a couple on special occasions, my boss convinced me to try whiskey for the first time.

Well after a few, I decided to stand on a table and declare to all why I thought one of the directors was a cunt. Not my finest moment.

Oh god. Between 2017 and January 2020 I worked part time in a gym and people may remember the HUGE crush I had on the physiotherapist that used to do all the Doctors referrals there. We used to flirt like nobodies business and the Xmas night out in 2019 was awesome. Was sitting on his lap, grinding against his cock, I had a dress on and he was slipping a finger inside my thong, he was even licking my back ffs. Anyway got to the end of the night and I’ve never seen a guy battle with a decision so much in his life. We live quite close to each other and I was like you coming to mine and he was like yeah, no, he had his hands on both my shoulders and was like no I can’t. He walked me to my door and left, than rang my doorbell, then said no again and then left!

Might be an age thing, or depend a bit on the size of the firm or the role that I have been in.

When I worked in a large accounts my firm after university, the parties were absolutely brilliant.

When I worked in large blue chip organisations in London the parties were fantastic.

But when I worked in a smaller firm, more recently (20-30 people), they were absolute shit. Stick sitting at the same table or drinking in the same group for the night, instead of being able to mingle and get up to mischief. Same people making arseholes of themselves every Xmas, I just got really bored with the parties and ended up hating them

Manchester (he/him)

We had a memo come around on Friday regarding the Christmas do. A meal and drinks in the city centre.

I don’t usually relish these types of occasions because forced socialisation is my idea of hell but I thought that I should go.

No gossip or bawdy goings on in my history as I’ve usually been the one keeping everyone on the straight and narrow, and looking after the stragglers. Such is the managers lot!

Think he was just being professional. Even though he was single (I knew he split with his partner 11 months prior) I think he wanted to have sex but knew because we worked together it could get awkward.

Ours are usually good fun. It doesn't look like they're planning one this year so I'm going to go renegade and plan one instead. The appetite is there for a night out of some sort!

Outstanding! I gave a senior partner a piece of my mind once after an afternoon of droning. So king feeling when that flashed back to me the following morning.

When I was in university I was invited to the Christmas party of the firm I was joining the following September. Got pissed, ended up in bed with a girl I met at the party ... following September, day 1, I get introduced to my new boss. Sure enough ...

I don’t think it is the managers job to police anything. As far as I am concerned I have hired adults and they should know what to do and what not to do. If anything happens then they can take the consequences.

Pity. In overall terms, these things cause a pittance for a company, but the message that it sends to staff is just shit when they take minor benefits away. Very short sighted.

Agreed. It’s a night off for everyone. But it’s clearly worse for the manager than it would be for anyone else if they end up making an arse of themselves

Frankly all I care about is if they are going to shag someone make sure it is in a different department and not someone in their reporting line.

Was fine. We still carried on the flirting in work. Think it was just natural to do. I left when the first lockdown happened cos it was shut for months. Still see him now and again cos we live in the same area.

Both incidents happened at the same firm, now that I think of it.

And unrelated to Xmas parties, (again, same firm), I went on the piss one night, met a girl in a nightclub, ended up in bed ... a few months later I’m leading the induction training for the new joiners, and who is sitting in the front row? And she turns out to be the managing partner’s daughter.
