So I had to fill in a card at the weekemd to someone reaching adulthood. I decided to give them some advice I wish i'd been given

Dont listen to what other people say, unless they say "duck"

What would your advice be?

Cambs

Live your life for yourself don't worry what others think of you.

Shame you only learn this as you get older

Paradise, Herts

Apart from don’t start smoking I’d do it all the same. The past makes you what you are today. Live for the future.

Do what makes you happy, not what you think will make others happy.

I found that out the hard way and have to live with it for the rest of my life. *deep inhale.. deep exhale*.

If it's really not making you feel right, don't do it

If it's making you feel like it's the right thing to do, just do it.

Step out of your comfort zone and do what makes you happy.

If its taking a chance the worst they can do is reject you.

Don't listen to people when they say crossdrsssing is wrong, you have a great body and look good in a size 14 dress.

Don't buy your friends, they will forget you soon enough.

Don't give up cycling, you were good at it.

I’m only 28 so still learning!

But I’d say don’t give a flying f*ck about what people think of you as they’ll judge you anyway. You and your loved ones know who you are and that’s all that matters.

If something seems odd/wrong then it probably is.

Just because everyone else is doing something doesn’t mean it is a good idea. Just because no one else is doing something doesn’t mean it is bad (but tread carefully).

"Wear sunscreen"

This! My Nan instilled in us to wear it all the time and I’m never without it, she’s 93 with such amazing skin so clearly she did something right! My mom, aunties and uncles all have amazing skin aswell.

Don’t get a credit card when you’re 18 and think it’s effectively free money at the time…

Oh and don’t gamble.

To have strict boundaries. I have them now, in my 40s, but wish I’d had them earlier in life.
