Secret hideaway in the pennines

Radio Luxembourg, Sunday night for the chart show, in bed under the covers so my mum and dad didn't hear

What do you remember from your childhood

East London

Being happy.

My dad creosoting the fence on a warm summer day.

Coming home to my mum after school.

Playing with my best friend.

Holidays to Leysdown.

Freshly washed, stripey flannelette sheets.

Waitin' for my favorite songs

When they played I'd sing along

It made me smile.

The Carpenters. Mums favourite

I’d listen to baseball games being broadcast on the American forces in Germany radio stations that could be picked up occasionally when the weather was right.

Remember one night late in heard an elvis song .. then another...then another . .then another..thought hey up something up here..then DJ announces he's died...

Another occasion can recall listening to water boy's whole of the moon....then a news flash..

Argentine fishermen raise their flag on south Georgia...recall thinking seems odd..not knowing what it would lead to..

John Peel. Recording on to C90 tapes, the most obscure and unheard of music. Loved it and discovered many bands.
