I’ve been requested to post this thread/ reflective exercise, as flawed as it might be!
Let’s bring a moment of self reflection, introspection and non reactive thought about others to the forums, as it can be helpful.
It might seem a strange idea but at it’s heart is the intent for us to be more rounded and understanding people.
Self reflection is an important tool in understanding what, why and how we act but so is how others honestly see us.
Post that you’re in on the thread, then respond to others via message with honest opinions about people. Not nasty, not sycophantic, honest appraisals of how you feel about them, this isn’t a chance to try to ‘get in’ with that hottie, this should be a self improvement exercise.
The intent is to honestly see how others view us, if you give criticism, then please be constructive with it. Remember to be kind folks. Let’s see how this goes...
Remember to respect filters, if you can’t directly message someone, then don’t post it on the thread, it’s meant to be private and personal.
Please also do send messages, passivity only lessens the interaction and those that often complain about not receiving messages, it also tends to be are the ones that didn’t send any.
Away you go folks |

This could be really interesting OP. What we present about ourselves isn’t always what other people see.
We also have to remember that everyone we meet has a version of us in their heads already.
So for that reason I’m in |

"If people use it how you specified then great.
Curious so count me in
That’s always the key point; use as specified, NOT to attempt to curry favour or get into someone’s pants! "

Such an interesting idea for a Fab thread. Well-done! I’m in. I haven’t been here long though, so absolutely wouldn’t take it personally if there’s no comment! |

We’ve chatted in the past in the forums and messaged, you’re genuinely one of the nice guys, full of good advice and always engaging.
Not afraid to open up and offer advice from your own experience. And not after I’d to tell it like it is. When I see your name attached to a thread I’ll always look to see what you’ve written. |

"Can’t people just write it in the forums? I want to be evaluated but don’t want messages. "
No. People write very different things in the forums than from in private and some things written might not be for public consumption.
It’s intended to be a personal and private process. If you don’t want messages, then I’d recommend that you don’t take part maybe |

But by sending messages you’re opening a portal for future communication which people may not want but feel obliged to chat. A forum post is just that, read and it’s done. I’ll do my own forum based one. |

I know this is against the spirit of the thread but I agree entirely about Tea |

I'm in but would rather messages sent privately. I've done this thread previously and had some real honest feedback from some, some of which wasn't the most positive. Which I am sure they would not have posted on the forum, as it may have broken the rules of fab.
Thanks Tea for doing this thread again |

You’re missing the whole point Yasmeen. It’s meant to personal and constructive feedback.
I’m not sure that you’d appreciate someone posting negative things about you in the forums. Also some aspects may break forum rules. Hence why I stipulated via PM. |

"Surely only people who know you can give you a honest 'evaluation'??"
I can give an honest opinion on the impression someone has made on me via their forum presence. Well that is what I message others about |

Thank you for the thread Tea! I've had lots of lovely messages, some rightfully but respectfully pointing out little erm... quirks of mine and reminding me to be more mindful of them (they didn't suggest that, I've taken it on!). It's a nice little exercise and like any there could be flaws but I enjoy it nonetheless.
I particularly enjoyed one very open conversation with a forum user. |

Sent a few more this morning. Thanks for my messages, it has been nice to chat with a few people I've never spoken to before. And also lovely to realise that some see more of me than I thought I showed. Thank you all for the lovely and constructive feedback on my forum presence. |

The thing about this thread is that there’s not really a time limit on it.
Just message people that you want to, filters permitting of course |
