British Footballs greatest team.

Okay, I know I might be prejudice, being Scottish,.however I still think think the best British team ever was the Celtic team that were the first British team to win the European cup (Lisbon lions)..none of their players lived more than 10 miles from their home ground..if they got 'chopped down 'they got back up and fought back..nothing today compares to that,or am I wrong? Ps,I'm not a Celtic supporter, I just admire talent. |

Liverpool of the late 70s and early 80's. They dominated in Europe as no other British team has done, and also had a huge influence on other teams with their possession based pressing style. |

I think that celtic team don't get enough credit outside of Scotland... (OK the green half of Scotland)...
But for me the Liverpool teams of the 70s take some beating... Clemence, Hughes, Smith, Neal, Thompson, case, highway, keegan, Kennedy, Terry mac, tosh... What a squad they had. |

Difficult to compare eras but for me:
Celtic’s Lisbon Lions certainly in there,
Liverpool in the late 70’s / early 80’s,
United in the 98/99 season and 2 seasons after that.

"Celtic first British team to win it.the way they beat inter too was brilliant" I think that's why they get my vote, they just didn't give up..if any one gets a chance to to see a recording of the game watch it. It's what football is now lacking(no 'grit, and and no skills)..not many players now want to keep the ball (3 touches and they pass it)

There are many era-defining teams in British football and the Lisbon Lions certainly deserve their due.
For sustained excellence the Liverpool team of the early to mid-80s with a certain Celtic old boy pulling the strings is hard to beat although the 87-88 reboot with Beardsley, Barnes and Aldridge hit free-flowing heights that arguably surpassed their illustrious predecessors.
In the Premier League era, the Utd team of the late 90s had arguably the greatest midfield ever assembled in British football with Giggs, Keane, Scholes and Beckham. And that's before you get to Arsenal's Invincibles! |

He must support the 'PAPES'?" for those that don't live 'north of the border 'that's a very offensive name given to Catholics ,and for your information I was brought up 10 minutes walk from ibrox stadium, but with the ability to see talent in both Glasgow teams irrespective of religion. |
