"Superman isn’t real. Sorry.
Yer right supose Santa's not too "
Oh no, Santa’s real. But the idea of a man (of undefined sexuality, because that’s the way he rolls) flying through the sky without the aid of reindeer is quite frankly preposterous |

This, its not a big deal. Hopefully Superman's son can be a positive role model for an under represented demographic. If people dont like it, then dont read those comics... |

"Has the world gone mad. Changing some one to fit in the new world. Be creative, invent a new non labeled superhero.
Let's see what we can come up with
"
No it hasn't.
What if the fictional son of Superman is being used to provide very real help people feel more comfortable in themselves when they're largely surrounded by this attitude? |

I always think if you gave superman a bj would the back of your head still be there after he shot his load. I mean got to be some power behind it and no guy regardless of how much control they have can control that ?
I really don't care what he is classed as because if it helps one person become happy in themselves then that can't be a bad thing . As for the offended go along in your lives being offended im sure an hour after reading the article it will be forgotten unlike the struggle someone is having to come to terms with their sexual orientation in a still largely non accepting world |

If they invented a new character I don't think it would get much support from the phobic crowd. This way the current fans who are also phobic may have a bit of a chance in accepting it.

"Technically superman can’t be bi
As sins he’s a not human means he’s nither man or woman
Superman is a alien "
Careful, "Alien" is being pushed to not be used because it is offensive to Extra Terrestrials.
I'm not joking, Demi Lovato and followers believe this.
As others have been said, it is Superman's son. A character the majority of people out there complaining won't even know actually existed.
Minor, little know, or background characters being changed on the fly I am fine with their general mythos and personalities explored very little.
I am very open about about my dislike for changing things about well established characters for the sake of changing things.
But if you give me a well written character in a well written story, I don't care who or what they are, or what their lifestyle is, I will be invested in them and what is happening. |

Funny thing about deadpool being pansexual, there was a small minority that complained that they made a character that is suffering from mental health issues (the dude believes/knows he is in a comic book, breaks the 4th wall all the time, and hears voices) and that is the character they decided to represent pansexuals. |

Captain Jack Harness in Dr Who was pansexual. And he was an invelnerable guy traveling time and space saving people, so you can't say he's not a superhero |

It does annoy me when the big comic companies ret con mainstream characters in order to try to shoehorn things in.
Yes, representation matters but so does a consistent story arc. The two are usually mutually exclusive.
If you look at Marvel and what they’ve done with Wiccan and Hulkling, that is how to do representation well.
I understand that these characters were created when cis het white male was the default for all superheroes and they’re trying desperately to appeal to new readers in order to stay relevant but I’m not sure that this is the way to do it.
The smaller comic houses are doing it far far better, that’s where my money tends to go |

"Just a big company try to make a pink pound but as long as the stories are good who cares? "
This there’s been plenty of representation in comics. Specially over the last two decades. Some work some don’t. It all comes down to the story. |

But... sometimes men get married to hide, and only years later do they feel able to "admit" their true sexuality.
I also know some very butch masculine gay men. |

And sometimes people repress their sexuality. I’m aware of how these things work, as that’s what happened with me.
Are we saying that superheroes are subject to the same level of social conditioning as we are, that Captain America is worried about how his homophobic mother will react? |

I think what irritates me are the reasons behind it. The 80s were definitely wrong but now the panulum has gone past centre and carried on going.
I think it's great that people should be able to come out and be themselves with out reprisal but you should as an individual be allowed to say you disagree without reprisal as well |

The ONS reported in 2018 that 2.2% of the UK population identify as gay or bisexual.
I have however formed the opinion from watching modern films and TV series that the entertainment world believes that 25 to 30% are gay or bisexual. Perhaps it is in their profession?
However, the LGBT lobby appear to have a disproportionate effect when portrayed on the screen. Now they want to make James Bond a woman. Its enought to make him return to writing books on ornithology! |
