Do you wash your hair...
Jump to: Newest in thread
...before you go to the hairdresser? As in, just before you go?
I always do, even if I've only washed it the day before. But some of my friends say it's weird because it's going to be washed while you're there.
I don't know why I do it, I guess deep down I don't want my hairdresser to think I'm unclean
But it is a bit pointless if I think about it
Am I weird? |

I always have. It's something I was always made to do as a kid, so now it's just routine I guess.
If you're strange so am I |

A completely normal thing in Italy that I’ve never had in the U.K. is that they wash your hair when you first get there, then cut it, then wash it again, then style it! Which I really like. But no, I will wash it the night before I go. |

"I got shouted at the last time I did that. So no, not any more.
Because my hairdresser is a bully.
Mind you, I only see him about once every 4 years....."
Why did he shout at you?
I can't imagine my hairdresser ever shouting at anyone...although she does sometimes give me a disapproving look if it's been too long since my last appointment |

I wash mine when it needs washing (this is less about hairdresser as I go to the barber and they don't wash it!)
But if I go and it's on a day I generally won't wash my hair, I won't. If it is, then I do!
I'm actually on a shampoo detox right now. Going a few weeks without shampoo and let the natural balance to my hair and scalp return to normal.
Note! I do rinse it every day in the shower.

Yes I do, mainly because I kind of feel guilty about the amount of hair there is and how long she has to spend doing it, I don't want to add dirty hair on top of that. I'm going tomorrow and I've got a hair mask on now so it's easier for her to get through. |

Something to do with natural oils, or the dye, or something..... and because he's a total control freak.
Plus I had cut my own hair for the 4 years previous and apparently that "is not acceptable Posh".
He still had 14" to cut off though, moody bugger. |

I have wondered about the damage from using heat on it twice in one day...but it's only once every couple of months.
14" The most I ever had cut off at once was about 8", and she must have asked me if I was sure at least 10 times before she did it...next visit it was "only cut a tiny bit off, I want it long again" |

I get that...I always think her poor arms must ache after tackling my frizzy birds nest of a mane |

I just told him to do whatever he wanted.... but that I wanted it somewhere between the bottom of my shoulder blades and shoulders (so still hell of a long) and mostly blonde.
We settled on the most glorious shades of red I've ever seen, and I think he only coped with taking so much hair off because he was too busy thinking about the 6 shades he was about to get to put in |

Haven't been to a hairdressers for over two years, I've been cutting it myself, which is always 50/50 if it will turn out ok lol.
When I did go, depends when I last washed it, at the moment I wash it once a week because my hair is pink and I use dry shampoo, in that case I would wash it the night before.

I wash it the night before and it's not too greasy. I don't see the point of washing it before because I would need to wash it again when I get home to get all the stray hairs out. |

Only if I didn't wash it the day before. I really need to wash mine daily but if yours doesn't go greasy as quickly as mine, you'd be better off washing it just with cold water and no shampoo, if you are concerned about it. |

I shower when I get up and when I get home from work, so shampoo my hair twice a day. I have very short hair a number 3. Any hairdressers out there? Am I washing it too much. I've started conditioning it every other day. I hate being dirty though. X |

I always wash my hair the morning before getting it cut, just seems wrong not to, I know I wouldn't want to wash some strangers dirty hair.
I then get a dry cut, they just spritz it with a spray bottle, plus side it saves me about £5 |

I've been frustrated the past couple of times going to the barbers
I'll wash my hair before I go, they'll ask me what I want done I'll explain short back and sides etc, next question is "would you like me to do your beard?"
"No thanks I'll sort that when I get home"
Next thing I know they start trimming my beard!

But you're missing out on the head massage! |

I was told not to! And I enjoy a wonderful head massage with it.. thanks for the reminder BTW. My hair grew a bit too long now and I don't like spending too much time maintaining them! |

I’ve been and had my hair cut today
And yes I washed it in the shower this morning before I went
Then I will wash it again in the shower later just to get all the cut hair bits out!
I only wash my hair once a week anyway! |

"If I’m having my daily shower before the appointment yes but I don’t specifically wash my hair for the hairdresser. They wash it anyway
However, I specifically don’t wash my hair min 2 days if I’m going for a dye though, holds the colour better "
Same here, I'd leave it for 2 days before I get my colour done. |
