"I like gin but I prefer vodka
Much the same except flavourings aren’t they?"
Flavour is different x but I’d take vodka tonic to gin&tonic .. but I do like a G&T every now and then
Jeez just give me a Bellini or an espresso martini to really make me happy |

Dislike the melancholy inducing stuff personally but it does appear to becoming popular again, noticed a lot of flavoured and craft varieties about. Vanilla vodka and cream soda for me |

"Rum is starting to make an appearance and will be the next go to drink "
Oh yes. As wife is of Jamaican heritage we have a few bottles of Appleton’s. On holiday in the Caribbean where wine was expensive I opted for rum instead which was nice. |

It's the next step into alcholism for middle aged housewives, prosecco being the gateway drug
Whoever did gins PR needs an accolade
I can remember when its primary associations were alcoholism, depression, making people cry and hookie abortions |

Seems young people go through these phases where a certain thing becomes a replacement for a personality?
Remember like 8-10 years ago there was the bacon one? Where everyone couldn’t get enough of bacon?
And there was a cheese period?
And coffee.
Gin happening now. I see it so often on tinder that girls will list gin as a main hobby as if it’s some funny statement about how exciting and cookie their life is, when it reality is just an evoking case of alcoholism brought on by a total lack of hobbies and personality |

Youngsters had to endure 2 bouts of lockdown whereas we just went about life carefree.
A gin or two is not a sign of alcoholism but yes it’s a fad. Here’s to more fads and freedom from viruses. |

I can cope with people drinking gin, it's the bollocks signs in B&M and it's the memes on social media saying shite like 'it's gin o'clock' or 'keep calm and drink gin' that do my nut in |

"Gin?
Gin, gin, gin. You can’t escape the stuff. I haven’t sipped any for decades."
It’s extremely easy to make, very little lead time, no ageing etc, so it is dead easy for new producers to enter the market and get their products on shelves.
I made the mistake of asking for a gin and tonic recently, and it felt like the Not The Nine O Clock News sketch where the bloke goes into a shop asking to buy a gramophone |

The pr person may be the same genius who turned magners from a cheap nasty cider sold in 2 litre plastic bottles to be d*unk in fields, added ice, doubled or tripled the price, and suddenly couldn’t grow apples quick enough to satisfy demand |

Gin and alcohol in general has been rebranded, remarketed and given a full revamp of flavours in the last few years.
My personal thought is that the government needs to make more revenue since smoking in pubs has been banned, as well as more people drinking at home in comfort.
Adding new recipes to favourite spirits and drinks also helps the companies distilling and brewing, its a win, win, all round for everyone. |
