"I'm off to see a UB40 tribute band tomorrow.
They weren't my 'thing' back in the day, but I have an appreciation for them now.
I love reggae, especially lovers rock.
"
I always preferred Lovers to Cultural or Dub. Especially the 1970s UK lovers.

There definitely some great tunes made in the 70's ...that's where my love of lovers comes from.
One of the first reggae song's I ever heard, when I was really young was waiting in vain/Bob Marley, still 1 of my all time favourites.

What is cultural reggae?"
I tend to classify it as reggae that deals with being Rastifarian and Rastifarian culture, the benefits and the problems of modern life. People like Ijahman, the Mighty Diamonds, Steel Pulse, and Aswad before they hit the pop charts but after their lovers phase. Aswad's "I need Your Love" was one of the first Lovers tracks I loved.

I like a lot of reggae, I just prefer lovers. It reminds of back in the day, the winddown zone at clubs, otherwise known as the erection selection. |

Not forgetting there were usually 2 versions of a song.
So you have Six Street covered Louisa Marks, and Adele Harley.
Favourite tracks are Even Though Your Gone Louisa Marks, Goodbye My Love - Sardonians, Dim The Lights - Winston Reedy, Easy- Jimmy Lindsay, Substitute Lover- Half Pint and many many more. |

Big fan of reggae and dub. Less well up on ska and dancehall, but still like a fair bit.
Love Johnny Clarke, Max Romeo, The Heptones, Johnny Osbourne, Jacob Miller, Jennifer Lara, Lee Perry, Black Uhuru etc etc etc.
Always needs a decent system for maximum irie-ness |

on the road to nowhere in particular |
I’ve been listening to reggae since I started going to school. The music was all around me when walking down the streets. I then got into Ska. Lovers rock was the sound of my post pubescent teenage years. Roots and culture when I worked in petticoat lane market and heavy Dub by producers like Scientist.
I have eclectic tastes in music but it is always influenced by having a heavy bassline |

Love a bit of Trojan, ska and dub. Back in the days I used to frequent loads of reggae gigs, Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Aswad, Blach Uhuru, Gregory Isaacs, etc. Loved the atmosphere, and you could get high by just breathing in the smoke in the gents loo! |
