No..not the show. A week or so ago I noticed something had been gnawing on the door frame in my dads upstairs flat.

Today my sister saw a wee mouse.

I have been appointed in getting rid of the mouse.

But, I don't want to hurt it!

Anyone have any experience of dealing with unwanted mice?

Ideally I'd like to catch it and free it.

Any help welcomed

You can get a tip trap. They go in to get the food and their weight tips it so they’re trapped inside.

I found a dead one in my sieve just as I was draining noodles into it last night. Partly decomposed. It stunk.

Still ate the stir-fry though.

This I used peanut butter when we had them.

Plus once caught figure out where it is coming in and block it up

They can get through a hole the size of a biro so they can get under doors or whatever.

I live in the countryside so nice coming in each year is the norm.

.

I tried everything - the usual traps, humane traps, peppermint spray, plug ins, and they came back this year.

I’ve had people out who’ve put stronger poison down and I’ve not heard anything for a while.

Tried chocolate last year and they’d grab it and not set trap off - I was basically feeding the little buggers

Peanut butter worked

I've been away plus it wasn't strong enough to fill the air. Could only smell it when the sieve was out of the draw. A smell I won't forget.

I don’t think they have a preference. If you’re buying peanut butter to cater for the taste of your nice, the mouse problem has probably gone beyond the diy resolution

Beware their slipperyness during attempted capture (they can shift) that a sudden turn of pace is not a surprise and causes you to drop anything.

My mate was on the second floor of a house split into flats, he could catch 'em all right but he caught 2 little ones, the parents escaped.

So, coincicidence found him a thrown out gerbil/hamster home.

He being a compassionate soul towards the offspring (and seeing the accomodation as a sign) couldn't bring himself to release them.

They both died on him..water and food provided.

I christened him "The MouseKiller"

He did catch another little one later and released him into the park across the road.
