Not usually a starter person but the best I’ve had and would gladly eat it again was beef cheek, it just melted in your mouth and full of flavour.
Unfortunately it was at a private dinner inside Cambridge university, to date I’ve not seen it on another menu. |

Good taste, I'd eat all of those.
My favourite one ever was at a posh indian restaurant a few years ago. They did king scallops in a mild curry sauce, served in the shell. Sounds very simple but the flavours were out of this world. |

I don’t go to fancy restaurants. I’d much rather spend what little money I have on a Boots (other stores available) meal deal or a Maccy D (ditto fast food chains) and use the £200 I’ve saved to go do something nice, like visit a Fab friend
It’s just food, people! |

Just tell them to park the trolley by you and give you a spoon |

I once saw a dessert trolley tip over ... a wheel went over the edge of a step and there was no going back. Disaster |

Very different approach from me. To me, food is hugely important (followed by sleep and exercise), and I value and enjoy whatever I eat. So, I’m happy to pay for good quality ingredients, and very happy to pay for food that is high quality and cooked well / creatively.
That and wine ...

To us, it's the whole evening, or lunch.
If I pay for food I do expect it to be decent.
Don't think it's too much to expect restaurant food to taste good.
Doesn't have to be fancy, decent ingredients and well cooked.
We had one a lovely lunch recently in a pub overlooking the river Dee in Chester, found it looking for somewhere to park.
Simple stuff, nicely presented and a great location.
Don't turn my nose up at Macdonald's but apart from their coffee and ice cream I just don't like them, for fast food its KFC for me or the chippy.
Tend to try loads of stuff but tapas and a cold beer in a beach cafe is a must for everyone to try.

Yes, exactly!
I was being flippant, my point was that if you’re going to eat out, why does it have to be ‘fancy’ to taste good? Tapas in a local cucina/el restaurante, freshly-caught fish from a beach/quayside cafe or restaurant, or a meal in an off the beaten track country pub are all preferable, in my opinion. |
