I have a 4 year old that doesn't like to take his medicine when he's ill. Pinning him down and him spitting it all over me makes me feel guilty.

So my question is how do you deal with medicine time?

Any tips and methods would be greatly appreciated

.

I’ve been there! I’ve had to give steroid liquid to my son, and honestly the taste is vile. I used to mix it in vimto to try and disguise the taste. Regular medicine I’d mix into a bit of yoghurt

Be careful using yoghurt, dairy products can interfere with some medications, certain antibiotics for example..

a great tip I’ve found to work well over the years with my kids is putting the syringe into the side of their mouth and down their throat, that way they can’t spit the meds back out.

This for me too, and they get the full dose without spilling any.

We gave it silly names. Amoxicillin (because my son had constant ENT issues) was sweetie medicine, for example. We also did like Kinkyinked with steroid tabs - they are grim!
