Do you push people's buttons on purpose... maybe when you are unsure of them for instance...

I only push peoples buttons if they’re acting like an arse themselves.

For me pushing buttons means you know what winds them up, so must know them enough to do it. So in regards to your OP it would be a no

I don’t ever deliberately push someone’s buttons in a wind up way. I will sometimes ask a question that may give them cause for consideration, if that may be beneficial for them (in my opinion)

Fuck no, to my mind pushing someone's buttons you're not sure of means you're a twat who that person should avoid anyway.

You either work each other out like decent people or you walk away if you're not sure. I've had too much crap from game playing narcissists in my life to contemplate hanging around no matter what the outcome could be and I'd rather spend my time with people who aren't cunts

I try not to push buttons, but am quite partial to a bit of unzipping dresses and removing bras...

"For me pushing buttons means you know what winds them up, so must know them enough to do it. So in regards to your OP it would be a no "

Very true

I mean more of a generic button way, not game playing more of closed sentences, thought provoking topics etc, trying to open a closed book for instance.

You know when your gut tells you to walk away but your brain isn't quite ready to give in

^ This description... yes.

Firing people up gets them to open up, discuss, possibly see things differently.

Mundane beige doesn't give any opportunity for anything interesting.

Nah. I’d rather use my energy to make someone happy. Too much unhappiness in the world without me adding to it

So more a probing tactic wanting to know more. Then yes in some instances I will do this to try to understand them or a previous answer better or get them to say something more open.

As for the last part, I’d say listen to your gut no matter how frustrating it could be, knowing when to walk away is best than purposely pushing buttons

Not to be mean if that's the sort of thing you mean. My ex used to intentionally push my buttons, as did my brother. I don't behave like that. I want a world where everybody gets on. I have never enjoyed annoying or upsetting anybody. Luke

Also good to gently probe and poke in an friendly, inquisitive way I feel. And if they don't want to answer, just press the pause button.

No. Can't say that I do. I don't think it's fair to wind someone up just to get a reaction

I’m very open so possibly yes if I feel like others are hiding something.. although if it was that kind of scenario I doubt we would be friends and I’d probably move on first..

I find I often deliberately argue with people when I want to know more about something. Because then you have to check what they're saying and you educate yourself. Unlike just reading up on something, if you're talking to passionate people about a certain topic. They can throw stuff into a conversation that you never thought of.
