"I (Luke) have been playing the piano for 40 years now. If I could play like anybody I would choose Bruce Hornsby or Bill Evans. "
To be fair the way it is piano part is sooo groovy!
I play the piano and if I could, id choose to play like Tiffany Poon cos her playing has such emotion!!!

"Love to play a Guitar as good as Prince "
I play many instruments, but I'd rather play like me rather than someone else. As a drummer, I'd like the skills of Thomas Lang or Benny Greb, but I'd still want to be me.

I reckon Alex’s drumming on that track is harder than Eddies guitar parts, tapping is the ultimate technique guitarists use to impress teenage boys and loosen smitten girl’s knickers, but Eddie gets a pass as he pretty much invented it and went on to turn a whole generation of kids into ultrafast shredders!
And can you imagine how have Dave Lee Roth the centre of attention (one of the best frontmen surely) how it must have frustrated and inspired Eddie to do stuff on that guitar no one had ever done - everyone knows guitarists are insecure divas always feeling they have to win in the band, but real musical geniuses are the bass players who effortlessly keep the rest of them in some semblance of time, and often are the real musicians normally multi-instrumental as well so I put forward my case The Who’s John Entwhistle and Pete Townshend, John - aka The Ox or Thunder fingers , revolutionised how the electric bass was played in modern music - The bass solo on My Generation was genius and is still one of the coolest things to learn, while Pete windmilled around then smashed his instrument and Marshall stack up, as some sort of one man protest against against The Man while John just stood unflappably playing his bass, with cool efficiency and maximum effect - To bookend that early example - Pete got invistigated for dodgy Images on his computer, research for a book..
The Ox died in the Hard Rock hotel, in Vegas, with 2 hooker in his bed from a cocaine overdose - and as incredibly sad as his passing was, it’s the most rock n roll death a person could have! I bet even Keith Richards had to tip his hat to him and say “fuck man that’s rock n roll”
Bass don’t need to continually tell everyone how brilliant they are, because they already know they are
So basically I’m a bass player who when I grow up wants to be John Entwhistle |

"Guitar....ANGUS YOUNG or SLASH..either tbh...both unreal... "
Angus Young yes, Slash on his recorded stuff, yes but Slash playing live not sure if it was the drink or the drugs but I've seen them several times live and he was awful on every occasion! |
