When Leeds market opened in 1857 it was the largest covered market in Europe. It was designed by the architect of Crystal Palace. Marks and Spencer started out here with their stall labelled "don't ask the price - everything's a penny" |

Ours is small and a bit crap. They are an important tradition but our European neighbours have generally looked after their town and city markets better than us. |

Some places still have the smaller markets, but they are almost daily. I keep an eye out for the farmer’s markets when they appear.
Used to be a day out, long time ago to Wembley market, it was huge and just about everything you could thing of |
