Great musician. My grandad was a big C&W fan. As kids we used to beg him to play A Boy Named Sue

His version of Hurt is fantastic

Cash's version of Personal Jesus is possibly the best cover version of all time (except maybe All Along The Watchtower by Jimi).

Can't listen to the Depeche Mode version anymore, it sounds so one dimensional and soulless in comparison to Cash's.

Agree about his version of 'Personal Jesus' but some of JC's cover versions fall badly short though.....'In my life' and 'Solitary Man' spring to mind.

I remember it well... He passed away 2 days after my grandad. Which meant his songs were played constantly and my grandad was a huge fan so I took some comfort in it...
