Might be an Irish and Scottish thing. But putting anything in a glass of whiskey is just wrong. Some pubs over here would throw you out for suggesting that. lol

If it’s an expensive / tasty whisky / whiskey I would agree, it it’s just a cheap and cheerful bottle, so adding a mixer is fine
