Don’t look at how airplane tyres are made then if you think that |

This side of the pond its called inflation, but we know it as brxit. Nearly everything that comes from Europe goes through the UK to get to here. You've got contracts and we get screwed. |

I get that but it’s the lack of any price difference. I am a brand junkie so would only go for the biggies. I assume they all talk to each other. I know that happens on other parts . |

You want to try bicycle tyres: GP pro fro Continentals can easily set you back £40 each. Considering how much rubber you get for your money, car tyres will always seem better value for money. |

Worldwide there are only a small number of tyres manufacturers. They own the mid range & budget brands & just cascade older tread patterns down the brands once they've made their money on the top brand names. Don't forget when pirelli & Michelin & Bridgestone sponsor f1 & moto gp etc it's the end customer who is paying for all that advertising & cash splashed on banners & corporate hospitality at events. For some reason in Britain we want to pay the bare minimum for tyres & wipers when the are the most safety critical part of a car that keeps you alive Buy mid range for the best value. |

I did £150ish for two front tyres and balancing. The cost did sting a little, but it won't be as painful as using the car in front as an involuntary set of buffers. |

Tyres are your only contact with the road and pretty much the most important part of a car.
i always find it strange how people will fit remoulds or crab budget brands. |

It's bad psychology we all have.
We moan about the price of a pint of milk. But pour pints & pints of lager down our necks at £4 a go on a night out but somehow that's ok & the milk is expensive.
I could list other examples but the result is the same. Chinese take away every Saturday night but f*ck me those tyres are dear!!! |

Shop around, stay away from the likes of kwik fit. Depending on the size, you can get tyres from from about £40 each.
Last time I bought tyres (about 7 years ago) toyo proxies (mid range) cost about £110 for an 18inch tyre. |

I paid £30 for Marathon Plus tyres, 24" for my wheelchair. Only available at the time in NHS grey too |

Yes, but I go for really robust, glass proof etc ones because I traverse all manner of terrain. Cheap tyres will simply result in frequent punctures and trying to change a wheelchair inner tube out and about, whilst needing to sit in it, is next to impossible |

Yup, Schwalbe city jets are excellent. Speaking from experience. So why in the 21st century are wheel chairs not running on something better? |

Getting 24x1" tyres that are super robust isn't easy. I have Schwalbe Marathon Plus ones on atm, but in NHS grey . When these are knackered, I want black ones again!! Actually, this reminds me that I've trashed my basketball chair tyres playing outdoors so I really should replace those too Those are 700c...... |
