Let me offer you some useful advice. These are not normal times for renting or buying, so normal approaches won’t work.
1/ As well as setting alerts on the two sites listed , register with the agents directly, they will send you out before they appear online. It’s critical you move fast even to get chance of a viewing. Be ready to respond to those alerts and mails quickly 247.
2/ after viewing it’s basically an interview for tenancy and a risk assessment and you have to win. If you earn below 50k , new in the role, temping , have had any credit issues etc you’re going to struggle on the risk part, be creative, do the best you can on the interview, but you will struggle.
3/ go for props other people don’t. I got mine when everybody was rushing to avoid stamp duty and law changed to six months notice for tenants for to Covid , I bought a property with a Tennant in for six months and got it cheap.
4/ find out what the landlord really wants , ask a lot of questions to the agent at the viewing , because your interview happens after the viewing - it’s your application not the agents views of you

Also Gumtree, landlords who think they can DIY and won’t pay fees of Rightmove etc , often a bit thick and won’t do credit checks and proper references but downside they are usually problematic landlords |
