"Superfluous, I used it today and was told "you like big words don't you?" ....um, I just like using the appropriate words dickhead. "
You should have said, 'Oh sorry, It means useless. Now off you fuck you superfluous cunt' |

I was very close to saying something similar but decided to exercise some restraint. |

Sinecure, I came across it the other night reading and had to use the Kindle dictionary, it means getting a good financial reward and a status for doing as little as possible |

My word of the day is "defenestrate". It's a lovely word. Please don't throw it out of the window.
And poster above, I feel your irritation. An ex-boss once said the same to me. He was talking about my report writing skills and he said exactly the same thing.
In the end, I had to tone down the reports for his eyes, and tone them up for the chain above him.
This led to him going in meetings armed with all the facts (nothing was omitted), but unable to convey the message succinctly to his superiors (who had also read my report and understood it on a much deeper level).
Ex-Boss asked me why I wrote two reports, and I explained his superiors preferred my reports, but wanted me to "take out all the big words" for him.
He never got promoted, poor chap. |
