I'm dreading my upcoming birthday

Why I'm dreading my birthday on Saturday is because I can tell it's not going to be a good one due to the fact that I can't go out (not even to a club) because I'm skint and I have to bloody work.

It's really got me down and I've absolutely no idea what to do

Is going out the only fun thing you can do?

Be honest worry yourself. Don’t let society dictate the idea that you have to go out to a pub/club and get plastered

There is plenty of other fun to be had OP without spending money or going out. Favourite movies? Music and dance around in your pants?

My birthday on Monday and I'm not going out either. Friends round for drinks and a day at the coast for me!

Your birthday is what you make of it

Go fund me.

If a lady can get a trip to Disney paid by strangers.

There's also a giving community but I forget what it's called.

I hardly ever celebrate mine.

I just make up for it every other time I go out

Most people have not celebrated their birthdays over the last year, just pick another day of your choosing and do something nice then

No point really as builders will be in all week to do work on the house.

Count Your Blessings Cottage, Gratitude Grove

Billions of people don’t celebrate their birthdays - it’s just media hype to get people to give gifts and get d*unk

I had 2 birthdays during lockdown and didn’t mind

Happiness comes from within, it’s not an external thing. Take a few cakes into work and share the joy - they can just be cheap ones.

Play some uplifting music and celebrate that your birthday and rejoice in the knowledge you have a roof over your head and a job - millions of people don’t have either

Highlight of my birthday is getting texts and messages from people I rarely hear from, wishing me well, not a night down the pub or presents.

It's just a birthday. I really don't get why the need to do anything? It doesn't cost anything to spend time with those nearest to you.

It’s the same date every year

So you could have saved all year to go out

Booked the time off work

Planned for a few friends to do something

Maybe do that for next year…

Hey.. This is an opportunity to mark your birthday in a way you never have before! Go for a walk to your favourite place, Have a candle lit bath, a pic nic. Put your bottom lip away and make it something simple but special.. The day you were born was a good day!! Even if it's just for a small part of the day. Or organise something for when you can celebrate.

I did book time off to go to Cupids for a belated birthday celebration. Already cancelled going as I can't afford it.

Me going to a club in a couple of weeks has got nothing to do with my birthday. Having a belated birthday celebration then would be pointless.
