As the title says;
Which film soundtrack do you consider to be the best, for whatever reason?
Does it fit the film thematically, is it the most evocative, filled with great songs…?
Give your reasons please |

Soundtrack to The Crow, a film from my high school days with songs to match the dark and eerie nature of the film. One of my favourite films and soundtracks ever |

Recently (since I started running) I’m partial to a bit of classical music.
Listened to a philharmonic orchestras playlist covering film soundtracks and was surprisingly good.
Thought I’d throw something different out there! |

Most recently, Cruella was pretty good, in my opinion.
Older films- loved the Bourne films- Moby.
The Gladiator score.
Pulp Fiction.
Deadpool.
Guardians of the Galaxy.

Some classics already listed, but I'm going to shout out "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", to pick up on your suggestion Tea, the music fits the film thematically, it's evocative and pulls on the heartstrings.
The Scene with Bowies 'Space Oddity' gets me every time, and there are other moments where the music makes it. |

The Lost Boys - didn't notice the songs so much in the film until I got the soundtrack but as an album in its own right its great
Gone in 60 Seconds - The songs are matched really well to the various elements of the film and compliment the scenes in which they appear
Pulp Fiction - Really alternative and forgotten tunes which are as vital to the film as the screenplay and script
Resevoir Dogs - Again, forgotten classic tunes and the idea to present them through the film as background because someone is listening to a radio station was inspired.

Streets of Fire bit of a cult movie so I doubt many on here would’ve seen it, but a soundtrack with artists and songs from Jim Steinman (famous for Bat out of Hell), Ry Cooder, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks ‘Sorcerer’ Jimmy Iovine and Dan Hartman.
Tonight is what it means to be young, is an amazing song that just perfectly ends the film.
And Cinema Paradiso is my third favourite film of all time. See previous comments |

I’m going to go with Truman Show.
I watched a documentary on the making of recently and I found out that the score was written by two separate people with two briefs. One did the sections that we are supposed to be watching as viewers of the actual tv show and another who did the portions that we view as the movie of the tv show.
Never realised it until then but makes so much more sense now. |

It’s got to be ‘I can dream about you’ by Dan Hartman, as it’s the only song that got into the British charts |

Don't forget the opener "nowhere fast" and "one bad stud". Have it on did and blu Ray!
Another vote for The Last of the Mohicans esp "The Gael" which is the main instrumental throughout the film, building up to the final scenes on the cliff/River

Tarantino invariably curates a great mix tape, of which my favourites are:
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Once upon a Time in Hollywood
Others that hit the spot are:
Grosse Pointe Blank
The Big Lebowski
The 80s animated Transformers: the Movie |

"Transformers the Movie (1986)
Its pure 1980’s synth rock
It is very emotive, especially the death of Optimus Prime and Dare.
"
My favourite scene is near the start when the Decepticons hijack the Autobot shuttle soundtracked by "Instruments of Destruction" |

"Blade Runner by Vangelis is superb"
+1 for this.
I'd also throw in Apocalypse Now. The atmospheric stuff adds so much to the feel of the film and The End by the doors is prefect for the madness of the finale. |

The barn raising scene from the 1985 film Witness, starring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis.
This piece of music is inspiring; the scene demonstrates what can be achieved by like-minded people with a common purpose.
A bit like swinging! |

"I'm surprised no one's mentioned it but, Baby Driver. Great track list, fantastically synced to all the on screen action and is a key part to how the character views the world. "
Kennysouth did, but you're both right, it's a great soundtrack to a great film. Uses my favourite Queen track for the finalé "Brighton Rock" |

I think the theme tune to Jurassic Park is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. John Williams wrote some amazing and iconic film scores but that has to be his best. |

Most of mine have been posted on numerous threads as I tend to go down the Tarantino/Scoresse route.
I do think the Edward Scissorhands soundtrack is haunting and very Christmasy. Danny Elfman is a god amongst men. |
