So I can retire in 22 months! Am so looking forward to it doing the simple things I've just put my name down for an allotment! Am hoping to do lots of cycling/walking and gardening! Its gonna b the good life for me! What do u look forward to doing? X |

Having recently sold a second home, that money will be set aside until I turn 50 when I’m going to quit corporate work and open up a sanctuary for domestic cats in need of rescue of special care |

We looked forward to doing all those things we used to dream about when we worked. So reading, traveling, walking, gardening, following hobbie, going out, having time to stop and smell the roses etc etc. We haven't regretted it once and would hate to have to go back to work. I'll qualify for my state pension next year and I'm looking forward to getting a bus pass, I haven't been on a bus for about 30 years  |

No I dont use buses but will when I get a bus pass u can use them all over the country I think? Would love to do journeys all over stopping of in b and bs just because I could lol x |

I wont have alot of money so will b freebie stuff but I'm good with that am planning florida for the month after retirement as a one of as have a daughter moved there 2 years ago! Just want to see where she is living and settled x |

Sounds lovely. It will be a while before I retire but just look forward to lots more family time and looking to split my time more between North Wales and Scotland |

Ohh yes for sure! What I was trying to say on a daily basis I had my first child at 17 and my last at 42 so have allways had little people around me now they are all grown! My 3 grandchildren when small saw them every day as helped with child care as I worked in school so fitted in! The youngest of them is 22 so dont see them that often as they have their busy lifes! And it's the way it shd b absoulutley! Think because I had such a long span of having little ones around i felt so redundant! That has passed to a degree and love when we do all get together! Precious times x |

just bought a small camper. I’m down to 3 days a week now. Another couple years and giving it all up. Sell my rental flat and bugger off on travels |

I cant afford to! But am going to as my dad took early retirement at 60 and died at 68 so least he had those 8 years doing the simple stuff he enjoyed hopefully I can do same for a few more years  x |

In 18 months time I'll be jetting off to an island in the Caribbean to spend my days in blissful peace & relative solitude, apart from my excellent house staff and the occasional guest.
Strolls along my private beach & sailing on a crystal ocean will help to pass the time, as will helicopter jaunts here and there as the fancy takes me.
Might write a few more books, might not.
Just hope I don't misplace my Euromillions ticket, or it's all off. |

When I come to retire they will have extended the retirement age. Will pensions exist?
I hope I will do art in me old age.... Just like Pablo Picasso. A business not like a hobby. Dying in a face full of acrylic pens or acrylic spray paint.
I would much prefer dying in a young womans cleavage (40/50 yr old - I'm 80/90is), I'm just worried I might have the same problem as Pele..... So just flirting then? |

Plan to retire at 55. Will rent out Uk property and live in the one I inherited back home.
May be tempted to work part time if the right offer is there.

I would love to retire and my dream for a long time has been to move somewhere warmer, like Greece, Spain, Portugal or France. Somewhere close to a naturist beach or a property isolated enough to be naturist in the garden/pool.
However, with climate change, it is becoming more problematic. Those areas around the Med will become increasingly less inhabitable - and dangerous - because of extreme weather events and will be first to be hit by an influx of those escaping climate disasters in areas closer to the Equator.
The other attraction of those countries was that my wife and I could afford somewhere detached with a garden where we could at least grow our own fruit and veg. If we remain in the UK, we are lucky to be able to afford a run-of-the-mill terraced house.
Yet, if we move abroad, my wife being much younger than I, will have difficulty finding work (her talents are not the kind that allow for a digital nomad existence). I would prefer if we could both live off my pension, but reality means she has to work to save for her own pension once I am long gone!
We've looked into the possibility of setting up a cat/animal sanctuary, a restaurant/cafe/B&B, buying a place with a gite or similar rental income, etc, but we either can't afford it or have all but ruled each option out for one reason or another.
So everything is in flux and I have seven years before reaching the statutory retirement age. Lots to think about. |

55 and im done golf sea shagging while I still can seen so many people retire then get ill in a year or two so try and get at least 10 years or so before my body gives up haha could get ill tomorrow i know but will enjoy life while still able to |

At 61 I really need to pull the trigger now and do it, particularly as the world seems to be slowly opening up again. I want to travel a lot, particularly Europe but having a 15 year old daughter limits time available for that. I also fancy cycling the canal towpaths of Britain before I become too old. As for work I'd like to volunteer in an animal sanctuary doing dog walking and also do something to help the homeless. |

Realistically I’ll be working to around 70 maybe longer in some capacity , by choice. Typical dreams of retirement I’m doing now , travel, adventure , time with family and friends, because they are too important to put off and who knows what your health will be like when you are older. So when I think about retirement or part time work, I get excited about all the literature, poetry and foreign films I’ll hane time to watch - if I can hear and see still |

Took early retirement at 62 the plan being to live off my private pension until th state pension kicked in at 65, however I was headhunted with an offer I could not refuse and worked on until I was 70 at whch point I retired.
My state pension was offered to me at 65 with an option to roll it up if I did not want to draw it at that time. I opted for the roll up, when I finally decided to take the pension I was again given options, either take an enhanced pension or a lump sum, I chose the lump sum
Whilst the roll up is still in place the lump sum offer is not available only the enhanced pension.
The lump sum saw me comfortably through my 70s, sports cars and foreign holidays, then came Covid and the start of my 80s which sadly have been blighted by my severe Arthritus and Heart problems.
One event which made life easier however was that I became mortgage free at the age of 56. |

I will have zilch but I sure wont b sitting at home with nothing to do! I will b out cycling free doing the garden free long walks free fwb sex free and an alotment hopefully for a small fee! U dont need money to enjoy life ohh and the bus pass think u can get about fair bit with that x |

We were going h to spend our retirement between South Africa and the UK. runnibg Safari Tours from our house near the Kruger Park.. ans summers touring the coadt of UK in our caravan... my husband passed away a year before retiring so the plans never happened ... I hope everyone actually gets to retire and enjoys their plans.. but life goes on. im enjoying retirement on my own living by the sea and travelling now we can... life is for the living.. live every day. xx looking forward not back. |

Just looking at is as looking like made redundant after Christmas and can't be arsed to work anymore at what I do so might have grandson for a few days a week so daughter in law can go back to work im only 50 but really hope it comes of. |

I envy you so much.
I have to work until I die. My life was interrupted 25 years ago with a divorce, and she got the house. I had to start over again at 40 years old, so I'm not looking forward to the last part of my life. |

I have to work until I die. My life was interrupted 25 years ago with a divorce, and she got the house. I had to start over again at 40 years old, so I'm not looking forward to the last part of my life. "

I'm already past retirement age I do not have enough money set aside yet. So my plan is work 1 more year, and will be looking forward to not having to get up at silly o'clock to go to work. My advice to all younger people is make sure you have a good pension in place  |
