"I only block rude/offence message

Why is it childish?
If someone spouts crap on the forums why shouldn't I block them?
If I see a profile that is everything I dislike or a status I find objectionable why shouldn't I block them?
If someone is clearly not to our taste but local and keeps looking at us why shouldn't I block them?
Why are any of those reasons childish? They just save everybody time. |

I sometimes block people who have said they wont meet but only so they dont appear on a search list.
I dont block people i disagree with on the forum, whats the point, you can still see their posts and im not afraid of disagreeing with anyone.... I will however block people who are cowardly enough to mail abuse to me outside the forum..... |

I only tend to block people if they won't take no for an answer and start getting stroppy about it. Thankfully I have only needed to a few times.
I wouldn't block someone for something written on the forums unless it was personally aimed at me or was particularly offensive as I think everyone is entitled to an opinion..that's what the forums are for .
Everyone is entitled to use the block button as they please

we block people who message us and although we send a polite reply saying "no thank you" message again a couple of weeks later and people who get abusive when we say "no thanks". We also block people who chat to us for ages, arrange to meet then stop contact a couple of days beforehand although so far that's only happened twice.
Wouldn't block someone because we disagreed with them or they us. |

I don't give a toss if anyone blocks me, however, I do not like those who blocks me after sniping me with unpleasant PMs, so that I cannot respond in kind, as I have no time for spineless/gutless people!
I always return block, so that he/she cannot lift his/her block and snipe at me at will.

I block for all different reasons.
If someone nags/pesters me through messages or in chat, I block.
If someone blocks me, I act like a child and take my ball home and block them back.
If someone offends me, and I mean REALLY offends me on forums, I'll block.
If I'm in a mood, I'll probably block if someone breathed near my inbox.
I have loads of other reasons too why I would block, but the above were the only ones I could come up with. |

Out of interest, OP, how would you handle this:
I get a lot of messages, many from people who have not read my profile and/or do not fit my preferences. It's already more than I can cope with. Where possible, as long as the sender hasn't been rude, I reply with a thanks but no thanks message. Many of those people message me again a few weeks later, asusually as though they've never messaged me before (some have probably forgotten they have), adding to an already difficult volume of mail, when they've already been told no thanks.
How would you propose I manage that? |

From time to time, I would find myself wanting to block someone for whatever reason(s), to find I have already blocked him/her/them a while back.
It is rather reassuring to know my instincts were correct. |

I've blocked several people who I've had some serious disagreements with in here on the basis that I wouldn't like them face to face so see no point in them seeing our profile, or I theirs.
I've blocked eejits who send one liners.
I've blocked people who have blocked me.
I've even blocked myself once! |

I don't block that many people. I will block guys that message me on a daily or even hourly basis as that kind of persistence irritates me and I just can't be bothered with it.
I don't block many people on the forum because their opinions are interesting and I see disagreement as good healthy debate.
However sometimes I come across people who give off negative vibes to me and I block them to prevent them looking at my pictures and profile and using that to point score in the forum |

I find it appropriate to block....
Assholes and tits,
Arrogant shits.
The brainless and feckless,
People who are reckless.
The ugly and mingers,
And people who eat zingers.
People who crap words,
And come across like turds.
Women who like silly hats.
And spout off like prats.

I would only really block a person if I was getting abusive/threatening messages or someone who constantly messages me like every minute (ie I have 50+ msgs before I get a chance to reply) not that anyone would want to constantly message me, lol.
I find it childish to just block a person because they simply asked how the day was going and that they are well. I've been blocked by a few people for just asking how there day was going :/. |

In the past, I would respond to messages asking how I was, even though the person's profile/pics/whatever did not appeal to me, purely out of politeness.
It usually led to more messages being sent as the other person would interpret my response was an indication that I was interested in meeting him.
Hence I would block after responding to an unsolicited message from someone I have no intention of knowing or meeting, to save time and efforts for both parties, as it sends out the clearest signal that I am not interested.

Empty profiles(or I'll fill in later). Mine may not be the best but at least I made an effort. People who have said they are not interested in me. Not because I'm sulking, but because I once approached someone who I'd previously approached without realising and they were understandably not happy. And text speakers. Some peoples spelling may not be perfect(mine maybe?),but make an effort! |

Currently I have no one on my block list as this doubles as my 'to kill list' and I have killed everyone I don't like.
Reasons you will get in there are:
Bad hats
Strange eyebrows
Nervous tick
Over familiarity
Stand offishness
Bad punctuation
Unsightly knees |

it may have been done in error. I am aware I have accidentally blocked people in the past and I think I do this in chat rooms whilst trying to turn another members cam on whilst the room moves and end up hitting block button of another member. Always undo it as soon as I realise but that may be how uve come to be blocked by someone uve neva even spoken to .. just a thought |

I've been on the site a few months and I've only found the need to block one person and that was only because they couldn't seem to accept the fact that I'm a straight male and didn't want my c**k sucked lol. I agree. I particuarly hate it if I see that someone has 'looked at me' a few times but not bothered to contact me. If I see an offensive comment in the forums, I will block. |
