While I have been in here for a while, between this and my old profile, I rarely started discussions on the forums, apart from when I used to post fantasy stories.

I know it's a good way to interact but also can never be sure if people want to read what you say or respond. Like with most things you take a chance and try.

I am trying to vary my discussions and not make them all hard to read, though I appreciate the chance to post those types.

Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read and comment on any discussion I have started.

The Town by The Cross

Good for you !

Too many post once and then take to heart everything people say.

It's never personal so just keep posting O.P.

I like variety and I'm all about me.

Sometimes your thread will tank, sometimes it will fly off. Don't let either get too deep in your head. Could become too smug or too self critical. Neither good

Just send some things into virtual space and let people in

Very wise words and an ongoing lesson

Scunthorpe

I think variety on the forums is a good thing. It can get bit repetitive at times.

I don't tend to start threads myself, mainly because I just pop in and out and often miss responses to my posts.

Don't worry about whether people are interested or not. You be you

The forum can be a good way to interact, but fast paced forums like the Lounge can be hard to get cohesive and consistent banter going until you plug into the vibe of how it works.

It is good for spawning PMs from though and so getting to know people.

Some of the other forums are slower and so you have more time to post a more considered response that may resonate with people.

Passed Beyond Reach

Don't start threads as there is not really anything to post about. Most threads are about attention, adoration, exoneration and valudation. Not interested in any of the above so doesn’t leave much else to post about

I do post to threads which does annoy people, amused by reciprocated drone attacks. Do make the odd comment on subjects I have a view on

The two most popular threads I posted were about disposing of a giant dildo and Married at First Sight. All my others are about recipes and boring stuff

So for everyone new since you posted the dildo….sorry, thread…what did you do with your unwanted dildo?

Did you:

A) put it in a shop display of candles?

B) put it in the recycling bin

C) give it to a friend

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

It’s frustrating that there isn’t an option in here to be able to view people’s posts or comments from their profile page, so you can see the history of things they have posted, so that if you like one thing someone has said or written, you could look back on other things they have posted.

You can click on the green arrow beside their name. It will take you to the last 35 threads they posted on. You will have to search the thread for their comments though
