Why are some people so nasty and aggressive. I'm at work and just had to see a lady who was more than abusive ... zero tolerance policy my arse. She made me cry ...

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I am sorry you have been abused. As on here, at work make sure you report it and make a file note. Deep breath and remember that not everyone is like that.

You're at work ?

Good job you don't work for me ! Are you paid for surfing this website ?

If she made you cry, your far too sensitive for whatever job your being paid NOT to do !

Find another job, or grow a spine !

If you are going to pick someone up on their spelling, it's a good idea to ensure you can spell all the words you use. Otherwise you just look silly.

Without knowing what I do, what I endure, how valuable I am, how knowledgable I am and how SHIT HOT at my job I am ... your opinion is invalid.

Thankyou for the sensible comments everybody else.

The way to react to people being abused is to abuse them more and then pat yourself on the back when they tell you where to shove it?

Unbelievable. Pathetic and unbelievable.

I work as a doorman so naturally i am abused on a regular basis, but i accept it as part of my job,i can handle it and if it comes to it i can quickly switch from victim to aggressor, but,i can imagine what its like for doctors and nurses and teachers etc who face constant abuse whilst trying to do a good job,if they cry in the process does this mean they have no spine?

Why is it when someone is having a bad day and needs a hug there's always a nice person that has to come in a stir things? I take it your having such a fantastic day that you have to come and be nasty?

That's a very fair point and whilst emotion is truly something very difficult to contain at moments of extreme stress or anxiety, my original post was to "not-very-tactfully" suggest that those in high stress positions need to be emotionally strong enough to deal with the strain, otherwise society would melt into a mansize tissue ! Horses for courses & all that !

Having a bad day and turning to friends for support does not equate to emotional weakness.

And even if it did, bullying to try to "toughen them up" is not an appropriate response.

Even those in the highest stress jobs can find that one single moment can tip them over the edge. No one is infallible (apologies if that's the wrong word or spelt wrong ) its just how people deal with that moment. Some might go home and get smashed, some might go punch shot out of a punch bag in a gym, and some come to a group of usually supportive people on here.

OP have your rant and a hug bit don't let it affect you too much. I am sure you are great at your job and only use fab at appropriate times

Ive had a few 'customer facing' roles where people have felt able to abuse me. Luckily Ive been able to get revenge by refusing an arangement or processing for litigation, but it can be very upsetting for some. A deep breath or 5 mintes away to have a cuppa can do wonders....Plus it helps if your boss isnt a twat......

If one feels/believes one has been treated unfairly or inappropriately, one should follow the local grievance procedure in order to address the issue.

For me, I would address the issue by confronting the person directly, face to face, in private, and/or in writing, using appropriate and acceptable business behaviours and exercising professional decorum.

Luckily, my colleagues and peers, even bosses, find me direct, assertive and forceful (reads: intimidating), so they usually leave me alone to get on with my job.
