"Because if that is the case, why are there so many shit drivers on the road?
But driving aside, do you think that practice really makes perfect?"
Practise doesn’t make perfect
Perfect practise makes perfect
You need to me consciously trying to improve when practising.
Otherwise your just going through the motions |

Yes if you really want to and you work for it. You may still not be the best but you can improve yourself. For example, I'm dyslexic I'm never going to the best author in the world, but have I worked to improve my writing skills yes. |

Practice only makes perfect if you learn from your 'mistakes' along the way. |

Practice improves you and in essence, yes, practice makes perfect. Although if we want to get into semantics, perfection doesn’t exist - there is always something you can improve on.
Also repetition breeds complacency … which is probably why there are some really bad drivers out there!

Depends on what you are doing it something require effort and learning to master.
Isn't driving now classed as something like unconsc*ious thinking (sure somebody will tell us the proper name) where by we do it so often it just become something we do without having to.put much thought into it. |

"Some people have no talent for certain things and no amount of practice will change that I guess?
Depends on their base level and their expectations"
I'm probably hang up here on the word "Perfect". They could become average or fairly good at something. But not necessary "perfect"? As in top level? |

Well you don't really know if those shit drivers weren't even worse 2 years ago, or half a year ago...it's kinda' hard to measure their improvement isn't it. But to answer your question, yes, practice makes perfect, However as someone else mentioned it, there has to be the desire of improving...am I better at cleaning my toilet than I was 10 years ago (as I done that every freaking day) - most likely, was the objective to improve my cleaning skills, while I was doing it? Nope, and I never cared to measure my improvement, so ultimately I do not know (nor do I care). Now, for the things that I do care and want to improve, I know for a fact that practice makes perfect |

I've got a few sets of Nunchaku's hidden around my bedroom..... One set is foam training ones whilst the others are solid wood.
The only way you get better at them is when you no longer hit yourself in the head! Don't buy a pair if you don't expect to do this!!!!
To answer your question - no, Im still shit at it as I'm still hitting myself in the head. Yes, I'm using the wooden ones - it hurts like fuck.

Yes.
The more you practise a skill the more it becomes hard wired or second nature.
The less you practise or use a skill the more synapses die and you are less sharp at that skill.
The reason for SHIT drivers on the road is that during their practise they practise SHIT driving.... not good driving. |

Because they are in an insulated box that protects you and gives you a false sense of security
Personlly i think every driver should be forced to do a CBT and ride a motorbike for a year. That in my opinion will improve alot peoples awareness and general driving skill. You are punished a lot harder for your mistakes on a bike.
Same with the awareness of the road worthiness of your vehicle. Bald tyes, dodgy brakes ect. I would never of left the house without first checking my tyres and chain. When was the last time you checked the tyres on your car?
As i have said before you are very aware of your own mortality when you are metre from a spinning HGV wheel the size of you in the rain and wind

NO! A Robin Reliant..... They are slow & tip over on corners! That would sort out the boy/girl racers! You'd be forced to gain new skills. |

It very much depends upon the type of skill also. If it's a purely mechanical skill like catching a ball, then the more you practice then the more you improve.
Up to a point, perfection may always be beyond you unless you have some innate ability also.
If it's a skill that requires more than just the mechanical piece, so drawing, playing and instrument etc. then again practice will obviously allow you to improve. But beyond a certain point it also needs the correct mindset and possibly "something else".
Now what that something else is, who knows. I've practiced my drawing quite a bit, but I don't think I'll ever be a Van Gogh. |

This. If you have no aptitude at all for something, doing it over and over again isn't going to help. |
