To a degree it will depend on whether you have any concerns about bumping into people you know, I know some people avoid clubs too close to home for that reason, but otherwise there’s no reason to wait until you are abroad. Just treat your first visit very much as one just to check things out, go with no expectations, but have some ground rules for yourself in case any opportunities do arise for you, think in advance about what you are and aren’t prepared to try. Of course make sure that the night you plan to go is the sort of night that interests you and that they are likely to let you in, it’s potentially worth messaging them in advance as a newbie to check. If all that happens is that you learn about the etiquette and get a feel for the place, then that’s still a worthwhile first time. Don’t be shy about talking to new people, but also don’t be pushy. I hope it’s a fun first experience for you. |

At 59 you aren't too old for going to clubs. Newport Chams isn't a massive club, so you should be fine. Check the website regarding membership, when you can visit, covid precautions, dress code.
My main tip is to be polite, friendly and chatty. Talk to both people in a couple and also to single ladies and gents. Don't go expecting sex. Plan to meet a few people, check out how it all works and if you come across as a fun, friendly gentleman, you will have more chance of being invited to play later in the evening.
Have a walk around watching whats going on, but don't interrupt people or stand too close wanking.
I'd say go to Chams rather than abroad. You have the chance to make arrangements to meet people again with Chams, can't do that in Gran Canaria. |
