Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Amy's beliefs are obviously important to her and Josh shouldn't mock them. But, she's not even willing to allow him to suggest anything for her to do.
The more she talks about the age difference the more I think she's the immature one.
Morag can't keep insisting on nakedness from Luke. How does that help him open up? There's not a lot of respect going on.

"I've never started a thread that's got to 175 before .
I agree about Morag. Keep telling people that they aren't your type and they aren't going to want you to see them naked. "
I can't believe you've never had a thread reach 175!
Franky is so petulant! He resented her asking him to do anything. I feel a bit sad that she feels getting him to do something as basic as pull his weight, and doing it testily, is a success.

I was watching tonight thinking that this show is showing how a lot of relationships actually are.
I think Franky is frighteningly insecure and could do with allowing himself to let his guard down and admitting that he might not be able to do something |

I worry about his insecurity. I was on the wrong end of that sort of insecurity when I was younger.

"Oh and my threads are usually about stuff like "where can I get bathroom tiles?" although there was an unforgettable " how can I dispose of an unfeasibly large dildo? " "
I remember the large dildo in the attic disposal thread. That must have gone the distance. I think the advice was to leave it for your children to find, in due course.

we came home once to find the drawer where we kept a very large one wide open. We reckon at least one of them wouldn't be surprised |

"Do you think they've all been truthful about their age? Franky and Tayah in particular.
Probably not. He's supposed to be younger than me. "
I feel a bit sorry for him. He's having to keep this facade up, it must be tough. He wouldn't wear an apron but claims he's alpha. If he genuinely was an apron wouldn't threaten him |

I'm going to have to watch until the end now but what a load of immature, uneccessary drama! A dramatic announcement that someone's "husband" was messaging another woman last summer, before they even got together and hadn't told his "wife" about it. |

It's not even a bombshell though. Young man in his twenties messages woman via social media a year ago is hardly headline news. She shouldn't be interfering like that and if she felt she needed to why tell his "wife" and not him? I was starting to think she was alright as well |

It's not really my kind of TV.
But it seems to fly in the face of what marriage is supposed to be about.
2 people growing together and making a free and open choice to commit to support and love and provide life long friendship to one another.
Given marriage is also a contractual commitment in law it seems weird that this show allows people to form that contract with little or no prior knowledge of who they are meeting.
Also if a few years down the line it turns out one of the contestants is abusive or worse, will the shows panel of filters be liable?
Each to there own but not for me. |

"Ah just saw the post that it is not legally binding, so ignore my previous post. "
. I think what you said still applies though. It calls what they commit to "marriage," they talk about love, commitment, loyalty etc. The new format isn't my kind of shoe either but I enjoyed the previous series' and I'm invested in this one now. I doubt I'll watch any further series but you never know |

Previous series dealt solely with the couples, as far as I remember they never met each other and there was none of this type of (what I assume to be) Love Island/Towie style confrontation and drama. I strongly suspect that these incidents have been encouraged by the producers. As I said I'll watch until the end but I'm a bit ashamed of myself for doing it |

I agree.
The previous UK shows concentrated on each couple as an individual unit, meeting with the experts and living in a neutral space. I can see some value in having some support from others in your situation, but the manufactured group situations seem to be about the group relationship and not the 'marriage'.
It's also really long, compared to the old format.

I think initially it was about matching people scientifically (well you know) through detailed questionnaires into all aspects of their life.. And then seeing if 'your perfect partner' came into your life what would happen

It is isn't it. I found myself thinking "for god's sake get on with it!" On Thursday.
Relationship wise it all seemed very much like how my group of friends were when I was about 18.
The men all saying that Megan was the woman none of them would marry was brutal and wholly unnecessary in my opinion as was the dramatic revelation by the blonde whose name I can never remember |

Franky- narcissist, hope they split.
Morag needs a straw to breathe.
The only legit couple are the gay couple, and I think the Irish guy refusing to move will be too much, ultimately. |

Morag!!! Why on earth was she acting so dramatically. She caused the kerfuffle and then acted like it was everyone else attacking her.

"Marilyse and Luke are putting themselves in the frame for strife and heartache.
"
Harsh words coming up, take cover
Luke is one of those men who will be wondering why "nice guys" get walked all over. He's changed himself into someone his 'wife" has told him she wants and when she *still* doesn't want him he keeps on trying to be that person. Public declarations of love and telling her he might not be the man she wants but he's the man she deserves, what kind of passive aggressive rubbish is that? It's basically saying I know you're not really interested but you need me for your own good. Those "experts" have encouraged him and he honestly believes he's found himself again. He's deluded the poor chap but I agree he is putting himself on the frame.
Marilyse isn't the gentle soul she makes herself out to be. She's as hard as nails I reckon and Franky with his very delicate ego is going to come off worst.
And that, is why people should never ask me for relationship advice

Thankfully Amy cut through that at the dinner party and explained it to her, and I agree, why bring something up from the past at that stage.
Also, she needs to drink a little less, at these dinner-parties and think a little more. Her outburst of defensiveness really hurt Luke, but then, he is too dumb to realise he is being played by her, so perhaps it was a red flag that he could Actually see!! |

Luke needs to wise up. He's confusing loyalty and niceness with doormat. Unless it's all an act he's like a puppy that keeps getting kicked and runs back for more. |

AND, Amy! If she needs a hug to stop her being stroppy she needs to be explicit about that and accept being stroppy is not the best way to get a hug.
He's annoying too, but at least he's not declaring love when it isn't there. |

We just started catching up on this and for the most parts our bets are that none of them bar the gay couple will likely last.
Also that Franky "I'm old and was in the army" lad really needs to be told if you have to tell people you're an alpha all the time then you probably aren't. It's like those people who insist they are hilarious and have to tell everyone they are |

I think she knows he would be good for her in many ways, a much more genuine, kind and stable guy than all her previous relationships. But she’s simply not attracted to him physically. |

Morag and Luke. Bearing in mind that the show is heavily edited my impression is that she's incredibly selfish but is also very honest. Like will play the "nice guys never win" card having laid down and said "walk all over me". |

In one episode she was complaining about always meeting bad guys but I think that deep down she doesn’t want to change. She likes the excitement a d thrill of a toxic relationship |

"Ok so I saw some of the weddings then I saw the meal thing last week. What’s the deal with the blonde female that doesn’t ‘love’ her husband? Is she an attention seeker? Trying to cause trouble? Or what?
Morag and Luke. Bearing in mind that the show is heavily edited my impression is that she's incredibly selfish but is also very honest. Like will play the "nice guys never win" card having laid down and said "walk all over me".
In one episode she was complaining about always meeting bad guys but I think that deep down she doesn’t want to change. She likes the excitement a d thrill of a toxic relationship "
That Philippa Gregory piece on being addicted to adrenalised love comes to mind. |

This is a Philppa Gregory (the historical novelist) quote
When a woman thinks her husband is a fool, her marriage is over. They may part in one year or ten; they may live together until death. But if she thinks he is a fool, she will not love him again.

Doh! I actually meant Philippa Perry! But the Gregory quote is good too.
I'm just settling down for tonight's episode. We're almost at the end. I must resist getting into the Australian version starting next week - it's even longer than this series.

They are so sweet. I thought it was all over with the 'cruel to be kind' cliffhanger before the break.

Well... I hope Marilyse never has cause to regret her decision and that they really are soulmates, for now at least.
I have concluded that Franky is rather boring.
What is it with all the shots of their shoes?
Tune in tomorrow for the Amy and Josh decision... |

Indeed. Why show the couples who went made their vows yesterday? They really lack of material this series and stretch every single bit far too much. |

The boy's were talking about this programme as we were having our morning cup of tea today, and one of the lads perked up that perhaps they might want to do a follow up series about pervs with a passion for excrement, and call it, "Married at first shite!" |

Is it! I haven't watched yet.
It was boring enough first time round. "
I've been on t'internet and there's been a 'glitch'. I couldn't see when they are showing the episode. The one next week is supposed to be the reunion.

Ch4 and E4 have been having problems all week. Subtitles have disappeared. Sound has been out of sync or sounding tinny. Maybe someone wasn't happy about the move to Leeds.

Ditto. I was looking forward it being the old UK version of MFAS. I'm just accepting it must be meeting some need I haven't acknowledged. |

Don't say that or I'll have to accept it too .
For me I think, although I hate to admit it, it's because I enjoy criticising people from the comfort of my arm chair even though I know their comments have been heavily edited and I'm being deliberately manipulated. |

I saw the reunion for the UK version:
Luke - did he suddenly wake up? Was he the one playing the game all along?
Morag saying he ghosted her but he said he was texting.
Franky appears to have settled down.
Jordon got off lightly.
I've been working so have not been sucked into the Australian series.

Tonight’s episode was final dates, a last chance to woo their respective partners. And I’m rather surprised that it’s systematically the guys organising, putting an event together, buying gifts. And the women simply turned up with their hands in their pockets, complete passengers.
Why should the guys be the only ones putting the effort in? Where is the balance?
Welcome to the 19th century! |

Someone please explain to me how the producers got hold of that video as it was clearly done with her phone?
But besides that, this video explains a lot. |
