Not to my kids - but I met a lovely guy who’s new to fab today. And my grandad once sat me down, took out a £20 note, set fire to it and dropped it in an ashtray to burn...then said to me "if you can't afford to do that with it, then you can't afford to gamble with it" (this was after I'd been asking him how he picked his horses as he liked a flutter) |

Not from my parents but from someone I look up to: ‘pick your battles.’
He’d then go on to talk about Sun Tzu and The Art of War. I’ve certainly passed the same things on to my team in a professional sense and I apply it in my personal life too. |

My dad always used to say "I don't care whether you become a bin-man or a brain surgeon, so long as you're happy with your lot; just DON'T follow me into industry"
...so I followed him into industry and had 15 shitty years saying 'why didn't you tell me?!' (not any more though, blazed a new path and I'm happier for it!) |

My mum told me that I can't rely on my looks to get me through life so I'd better study hard and work even harder.
It was a bit mean but to be honest, especially considering I was a teenager buuut it did help me a lot. I wouldn't pass it on though. |
