"When people say omg how tall are you would they say omg how small are you to a midget or would you say how fat are you to a overweight person "
Some would - some wouldn’t.
However - being tall - particularly for a male - is considered an attribute by many - so generally speaking I doubt most people would think they were being insulting or speaking out of turn! X |

What did you read it as?
He implies that being asked how tall he was is offensive as he followed it up with some fairly common times it could be considered as such.
Just an observation that made me laugh given his username. |

It is precisely because of his username that I didn't read it as 'pissy' but as a question. I can imagine it would be a tiresome enough question for him to answer that he would put it as a username before anyone asks. Seemed a logical question rather than being 'pissy', unless I'm misreading what pissy means. I presume it means being angry or highly irritated. |

People say these things to others OP. It's down to us as individuals how we take them.
I've had "my god, you're fat" on a number of occasions. And depending on my mood I either take it as an insult or just a statement of fact.
I've also said "I feel short", "I feel tall", "I feel fat" on a number of occasions. Which is an indirect comment on someone's height, or size/shape. I've never meant it as an insult. I'd not say it to a stranger, but I'd say it to a friend. |

I don’t think it’s due to my stature but in life hearing, you little bastard you fat bastard you skinny bastard were common. Pretty rare to hear you tall bastard although the term lanky cunt is one that was uttered, so there may be a valid point to the question. |

Because you can ask someone how tall they are regardless of whether they are tall or short.
Asking how short someone is is no longer a question, it's a comment on them. |

Obviously it also depends on how the question is asked. If you're admitting people to a roller-coaster it might be perfectly acceptable to go "how tall are you?". If you spot someone across the aisle at Tesco whose head reaches the overstock shelf it's probably not a good idea to run up going "OMG HOW TALL IS U?!" |

Small people tend to get picked on more than tall people that's why I said it "
First.... that's not true.
Second.... by the same token "you're so fat" and "you're so skinny" are just as offensive or inoffensive depending on the perception of the person you say them to and the intent behind the statement. |

"Asking how tall you are is a question
Asking how short you are to a midget is derogatory
Why is it any different?
Because you can see the difference
Surely you can see the difference no matter what height someone is?
Someone short might be proud of their height and someone tall might hate theirs.
Which I understand but usually it's not the case
But you have no way of knowing until you've said it. So why say it?

Well I would never call anyone
Fat
Skinny
Short
Bald
Tall and
Definitely not
Midget
It's all derogatory if it's meant in a derogatory manner |

"When people say omg how tall are you would they say omg how small are you to a midget or would you say how fat are you to a overweight person
Some would - some wouldn’t.
However - being tall - particularly for a male - is considered an attribute by many - so generally speaking I doubt most people would think they were being insulting or speaking out of turn! X but would you say to someone how wide are you ??
No - but then I wouldn’t ask you how tall you are either. I wouldn’t need to anyway - it says so on your profile.
How peachy are you m'dear? x "
Extremely - though possibly a little over-ripe these days! |
