This splinter group has taken direct action this morning by blocking some roundabout off the M25. Their aim. To get every house in the UK fully insulated. My response.. I have actually ripped all of my insulation out to try and get a better kip at night in our hot summer nights.
Are they entitled to behave this way. |

There was a government initiative a few years ago which provided free loft insulation for households. We had ours done. It seems to me that anyone still not insulated either missed it or didn't qualify. |

M, together with God knows how many other thousands of cars, vans and lorrys sat on the M25 for 45 minutes while these dullards enjoyed their "entitlement" sure did wonders for the environment and really helped align people with their cause I'm sure.

Seems to be for a good cause, when I was under the council our house was freezing even in the summer, we couldn’t occupy the living room. Can imagine the same for others so I say go for it |

Its pathetic watching the.police do absolutely nothing while a bunch of entitled protestors disrupt everyone else.
I wonder how many doctors and nurses they've made late for work or how many people on zero hours contracts are losing valua keep pay because if this selfish action?
The sad thing is that the protestors may have a point but so many don't want to hear it now. |

We just said the same thing
My niece works permanent night shifts as a critical care nurse. She was on her way home one morning absolutely shattered as you might imagine, when she was held up by protestors for hours. I was raging so you can only guess how she felt.
Protest by all means but think about who you're inconveniencing. |

I listened to live radio... There was a lady stopped from going to her NHS operation that had been delayed for two years, a man going to a funeral of a life long friend, the nurse missing a flight on a well earned holiday..
Not sure they are doing a great way to publicise their cause.. also.. I don't want insolation in my house. It's too fucking hot already.. |

Do they not think of the money they waste by doing this. Police attending, arresting and all other things it causes costs money. Money that could of been spent on insulation if they protested in a more civil manner. |

But I don’t understand who they think is going to take action if they stop the traffic on the motorway? I’m pretty sure Boris isn’t sat at lunchtime nibbling his tuna sweetcorn sandwich saying he’d been held up for hours on the Motorway on the way to work this morning. |

They where doing it last week as well it's mad and there was a crash last week in the que and thay should foot the bill and then some.

The thing with a protest such as this is it brings a cause to the public’s attention. Must admit, prior to this I wasn’t aware that their cause was such a major issue.
But here’s the real thing not to lose sight of. Clamp down on our right to protest and we start to loose a very significant aspect of our democracy and freedom , which have been eroded in recent years. That way, when the cause you believe in needs protesting you may still be able to do so.
Very often, protesters and campaigners push the law to its limits, or even break it, to get action or bring something to public attention. As a recent example, the MP expenses scandal was leaked by someone breaking the law to do so. |

There was a tragic story in the paper about a man taking his mother to hospital because she'd had a stroke at home. They were massively delayed due to the protests and she is now permanently disabled, had she been admitted to the hospital without the delay she would have made a full recovery.
Its reasons like this why protestors should consider the effects of their actions and who they are inconveniencing. |

I lived in a new 4-bed detached for 5 years and couldn’t believe how much difference modern insulation and new building technology makes. House would be warm within minutes of putting the heating on in the middle of winter and even winter bills were tiny. The government has failed to solve the housing supply, is responsible for fuel poverty and is short sighted on the environment, yet most people don’t seem to give a fuck, they got their brexit and sold out future generations , shame on them, selfish cunts. |

The thing is we are working towards retrofitting older houses with insulation.
I know because this is my job, I do retrofit surveys for people applying for insulation through the ECO scheme. At the moment this is generally only available for those on lower incomes or claiming benefits.
Most of this funding comes from the energy firms.
The govt do need to put money in a pot to enable the retrofit to be rolled out to more households (I expect this to be announced after COP26) but even with funding, due to the sheer volume of older properties it will take years to achieve this.
These protesters are protesting about something which is already happening, so it’s totally pointless & just ends up enraging the general public & potentially with devastating consequences for some people caught up in it! |

Absolutely! I thought it was a criminal offence to trespass on the motorway.
My understanding is there is now an injunction in place effective from this afternoon which means if the protesters breach this they face imprisonment, about time too. |

I'm surprised these protestors are allowed time off work to attend these demonstrations, perhaps they use their holiday entitlements.
I mean, they surely can't be unemployed & claiming benefits or anything if they're fit enough to block motorways and dig tunnels and climb up trees and stuff.

1.They will not go after the big corporations that their organisers used to work for.
2.You should check where they get their funding from.
3.Their evidence of the issue is false.
4.They deal in rituals taken from paganism which makes them a quasi religious cult.

It’s all totally stupid and a causing grief on the public for no reward. Fair enough, I accept that possibly there could be an issue with pollution causing global warming. But our country is so small in comparison to the rest of the world that whatever we do is pretty much irrelevant. They’re building coal fired power stations in China and elsewhere. They’re firing them up again in France partly to supply us with electric! They’re still chopping down rain forests at an alarming rate. Air travel is still continuing as before. I could go on. It is a global issue, not a national one. |

Where's everyone's indignation at paying for The Queen, formal evenings in Banqueting House, subsidised food and drink in The House of Commons, government cars and second homes for wealthy cabinet ministers who are renting their original home anyway. Covering the shortfall because huge corporations only pay a fraction of their tax bill. Yet everyone turns on the poor if they dare ask for something to be paid for.
We learned last year that there is a magic money tree after all. You know why? We print our own money. |

Clearly need to up their social media engagement, get organised, get professional and on the right side of democratic protest.
Alienating the very people you want to support you never worked well, historically.
The intention isn't to garner support IT IS to cause chaos so agendas that will not be to your liking can be pushed through in response to their activities.
Cause an issue to 'solve' an issue.
It is impossible to insulate EVERY house in Britain..just like it's impossible to get net zero carbon EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"This splinter group has taken direct action this morning by blocking some roundabout off the M25. Their aim. To get every house in the UK fully insulated. My response.. I have actually ripped all of my insulation out to try and get a better kip at night in our hot summer nights.
Are they entitled to behave this way."

Once it was possible to get running water to every house in Britain. Later it was possible to power every house in Britain with electricity. Why is it not possible to insulate every house?
As for who's going to pay for it. Where's everyone's indignation at paying for The Queen, formal evenings in Banqueting House, subsidised food and drink in The House of Commons, government cars and second homes for wealthy cabinet ministers who are renting their original home anyway. Covering the shortfall because huge corporations only pay a fraction of their tax bill. Yet everyone turns on the poor if they dare ask for something to be paid for.
We learned last year that there is a magic money tree after all. You know why? We print our own money. Will those you mentioned as being paid for give any of that up?
So it would be on the people to personally step away from ignorance about such things..and to gain knowledge about how to counteract it.
It is not their intent to print money to put in your pocket thus making us all 'equal'."
It's not like there's a limited amount. We've been pouring trillions into the financial system, quantitive easing, for many years.
It isn't a case of there isn't enough money. It's a case of "we don't want to pay for that". You're not allowed sonething for nothing unless you're part of the establishment, then you're deemed "entitled" to something for nothing.
Anyway, there are other options. Government loans paid in instalments added to your quarterly bill as part of a nationalised power industry, that would work. Privatisation has proven to have failed. Let's use the profits to buy gas when it's cheap and store it for eventualities like the one we're in now instead of paying shareholder dividends. |
