Asking for a friend...

So let's say you have 2 jobs.

Job A

And

Job B

Job A is a grate job in a fun environment with a great team.

Job B is in general a good enjoyable job but your work colleagues.... Let's say make things difficult at times.

Then job B offers you a manager position with more hours and more pay.

But thete is a catch.

You can't work both jobs if you take the manager job.

So what would you do.

Have more money in a good job and be a manager in a at times hard to work with team.

Or

Lave less money but be in a grate team.

How much money difference are we talking.

If you become member of a team that doesn't work, it may take effort, but can't you change it. Mould it..make it a better team.

You want respect from others, or do you want to be liked?

Depends on what stage of life you are at and what your priorities are.

More likely if you are young and single and want to make more cash then taking Job B as you have more time and are more resilient to the crap that goes with it. Plus manager experience may get you a better job somewhere else..

If you are older and cash not that important, then why would you want the hassle? Have a more chilled life and enjoy a nice working environment which balances out the other one..

Ive done the management part from the age of 24 with a good team but poor wages. Upgraded to earn almost twice what I was on before but with little or no respect from my employers. Then moved on to a completely new position earning good money but with a team who had no interest in the job or the business.

Lost that role because of covid and now earning much much less but much much happier in a job where I'm appreciated and without the responsibility.

Tricky either way really. Option A is (probably) only great whilst that current team is in place. But team members come and go, impacting the dynamic.

With the second Option it might suck, but you could make it better? Or it could improve? Worst case scenario you hate it and have to look for a job with both dynamics?

Does your friend need both Job A and B for the money? Will the promotion at B cover the money for both jobs?

I'd stick with both jobs so I had the fun times of job A. Life should be happy.

Happiness at work and enjoying your job are far more important than a little extra money

Hi _eeside!

I'd probably pick A, the people you work with can make or break your job/day. X

Hello Seeside,

Tell your friend that if they can afford it to stay in the job that makes them happiest. You spend a lot of your life at work and it makes a lot of difference if you're happy.

Good to see you

I guess it would depend on just how much money difference there is. If it would make a big difference to my life then I'd take the job even if I didn't love it. But otherwise I'd stick with the team I really get on with.
