As a teen I loved Nirvana. I would listen to Lithium over and over again. I was still a GnR fan but preferred Nirvana.
Now I’m older I listen to GnR a whole lot more and mainly Appetite for Destruction.
I never got to see Nirvana live but I have see GnR live a few times. Although the last time I saw them at Download I thought it was about time Axl packed it in. |

"I despise Guns n Roses, but Nirvana, now they were something!
Come As You Are
All Apologies
Dumb
Something In The Way
And the Unplugged album, don’t get me started! "

I can't decide, it will depend on my mood at the time.
Guns n Roses, I think I'll say .... Estranged
Nirvana, maybe .... Smells like teen spirit.
Not because I think it's their best, but the memories that come with it |

Nirvana - piece of piss to choose.
Massive musical talent. Genius. Stepping stone for Dave Grohl & Courtney Love. Without influnce from him would they be famous in their own right?
Kurt Cobain joined the "27 club" - sadly! At least he's in good company....
I like G'N'R's music but find Axl Rose an annoying ginger twat!!!! And he is. Oh, & by the way I'm ginger so I can call him that. "So ner-na-na-ner-ner!"
I saw G'N'R at Download. The best part of the show was (not just the end), but the crowd shouting out "we want slash." Wot the fuck was buckethead about???? Axl's voice was shot to shit - not impressed. Shite live band in my opinion.
So, "Come As You Are"; "Smells Like Teen Spirit"; "Heart-Shaped Box"; "Lithium."
My favourite:-
"Nirvana - Something In The Way"

I'll have his top hat & his expensive Gibson!
"
I just want to kinda put him in the corner of the room to look at.
But he will need something to play... |

"G n Rs for me love the long rifts
But without Nirvana and Dave Grohl on the drums we wouldn’t have the Foo fighter "
Have you heard the DeeGees (Foos covering Bee Gee songs)?
I’ll have to pick Gun n Roses, though Nirvana is more my time, I found Smells like to be over played and everything else just ignored, to the point where I can’t stand it anymore. Song wise I’ll go with Patience. |

I too was never a Nirvana Fan. There were some great songs, but they were just too miserable for my tastes.
GnR as a Commercial Rock group were much more to my liking, although I never liked all the swearing. Paradise City when it came out was a real attention grabber for a young teenager. Favourite song though would probably be - Don't Cry
Having said that, I much preferred BonJovi.

For me, it’s Nirvana out of the two - more gritty and preferred the lyrics. Guns and Roses are clearly great, but I’ve never really been that ‘into’ them.
Nirvana favourite song - Stay Away, Territorial Pissing or Polly. One of those three |

Both bands that have meaning in my life GnR because they were loud, in your face and unforgiving about their excesses. Nirvana because they were emotional, thoughtful and low key.
About a girl is my favourite Nirvana track
You could be mine favourite GnR |

It's just so hard to pick.
They are both favourite bands of mine but for purely great memories of a mis-spent youth it would have to be
Guns n Roses Mr Brownstone.

This is a phew moment for me, I was genuinely concerned you might have made me eat my phone in frustration
I love both bands but Guns n fuckin Roses are one of my two favourite bands so I have to choose them.
Favourite Nirvana songs - on a plain, lounge act, sliver and all apologies (the unplugged in New York version)
It's easier to name the songs i don't like from Guns n roses' first four records, it's called My world, the last track on use your illusion II.
Gun to my head if I had to pick two favourite tracks of each album...nightrain, rocket queen, used to love her, you're crazy, dust n bones, coma, get in the ring, estranged and ain't it fun. |

Nirvana. I like GnR, and have been listening to some of their tracks again, but they were never my scene growing up. I needed the angst ridden heavy as fuck, don’t conform platform that Nirvana brought.
Favourite track has to be Smells like teen spirit. They did some other great songs, but that one is just too iconic. |

"Guns n Roses - Rocket Queen
Nirvana - Teen Spirit.
Both decent but if I had to choose I'd say Guns with the first classic lineup."
I'd love to have seen the classic lineup but three put of five wasn't bad.

Guns n Roses were great with their raw sound in the 80s with Appetite for Destruction but then went too mainstream imho. I would never classify GNR as heavy metal though.
Nivana's Nevermind was the ultimate album at the time and very influential but the band was quite overrated after that, apart from Dave Grohl as it later turned out. |

His voice isn't what it was but he puts on a good show. I saw them three times between 2017 - 2018 and he sounded well at the gig. Hearing Slash and Duff play songs they wrote many moons ago was great too. |
