I’ve just watched the newly released trailer for the new Matrix film out in December. The fourth film, who else is a fan of the series?
Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss return as Neo and Trinity…
I recently just watched 1,2 & 3 and really enjoyed them and this new film looks amazing! I can’t wait to see it
Any new films you are excited to see? |

I'm looking forward to the new Edgar Wright film, Last Night in Soho - I love the leads in it and the trailer looks hauntingly promising. Antlers because everything Del Toro produces is a dream to watch. Dune. Eternals. And Doctor Strange because. Well. Dr Strange. |

"I fell asleep in the cinema watching one of them…or all of them?! Can’t remember "
The only time I fell asleep in a cinema was when me and my boyfriend at the time went to see some French erotic movie. That's how boring I found it.. |

I adore The Matrix, the sequels made me angry. If it’s in the same vein of diminishing returns then I’ll skip it, thanks!
I’m looking forward to the glut of Marvel releases over the next few months, beyond those it’s hard to get excited as they still keep moving around based on American outbreaks/markets |

"Bond looks decent.
Will watch the Matrix out of loyalty to the first one as that was bloody good at the time.
Not set anything on the horizon other than those. Will wait in interest. "

Yes, I love horror films and books! It’s a big event thing that Odeon put on once in a while; people take duvets and jimjams and all sorts. It’s 13 films, back to back but obvs with comfort breaks between. Maybe I’ll go to the next one, who knows? I’m sure you wouldn’t fall asleep during a horror fest, would you? |

I might actually give them another go before December. I’ve been watching older collections like this lately. I’m half way through Alien films starting in chronological order. I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to time lines and I spent a long time watching the marvel stuff chronologically |

I’m your defence, I watch a lot of foreign films and some of the cinematography takes over a bit too much and you lose some of the content

Looking forward to the new Matrix, they’ve had a long time to work out what went wrong with the sequels. The new Bond looks great and Dune looks incredible.
I’ve just seen Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings today and it’s great.
However I saw the new Suicide Squad last week and I was disappointed |

Exactly; it’s a fun, social experience. Like the difference between watching the match on TV, watching it in a pub, or being there in the stands. All have value, all have a very different vibe. Horses for courses, though… |

I do look forward to films but not sure the matrix should really be ressurected.
The first was ground breaking, the 2nd and 3rd were underrated although the ending was a bit to obscure to work well for a film as it just kinda kills Smith with no explanation, if you read around it you understand how he dies but films should be understandable by viewing not reading about it later.
I try to avoid trailers as sometimes they give too much away in the trailers.
I think batman v superman had so much in the trailers that you could cut the trailers and make a 5 minute short of the film from beginning to end. Also the film sucked.
So yes love films but just hope sequels are not just money makers.

I think marvel have a challenge coming and end game was a pretty special film and kind of rounded off the series nicely.
I worry that with all the TV shows and weirder less well know characters they will lose some of the more casual viewers that they attracted previously.
With thanos there was a good pathos and whilst a huge character it gave weaker characters like black widow something to hit at.
If they bring in a character like galactus, (efferial space cloud) it makes characters that are more human and believable (like the winter soldier) as superfluous.
There is a danger in going to far into the magic side that it loses the grounded human experience of say iron man or captain America.

Can't say I agree. Yes Thanos is a tough act to follow, but if you look at the whole Infinity saga, he didn't really have any real screen time until Infinity War, and pretty much established himself in the opening minutes by beating down the Hulk.
OK SPOILERS AHEAD
It looks like Kang the Conqueror is the next big bad based on the ending of the Disney+ series Loki. Alongside him you have Sharon Carter's The Powerbroker as the human big bad based on the ending of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. As well as the Powerbroker you have the team The Countess is putting together which so far includes the US Agent and Natasha Romanovs sister (from the end credit scene in Black Widow).
Also...theres Scarlett Witch and the threat she poses.
Then also bubbling under there's possibly Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 if they follow up on the ending of Vol 2. But seeing the Guardians feature in Thor Love and Thunder we could see Warlock introduced there.
And lastly...with Loki, Spiderman No Way Home and Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness there's the whole possibilities of other universes and old characters reappearing, introduction of mutants, the Fantastic Four...
Yeah can't see the MCU going anywhere soon. |

New spiderman film will introduce us to the sinister 6
"
More than likely, and seeing Vulture appears in the Morbius the Vampire film, and the trailer for that film had a poster of Spiderman with the word MURDERER across it in the background, it might have the titular vampire superhero as well...and where there's vampires, there could be a vampire hunter. |

"Loved the first Matrix film but 2 and 3 didn’t cut it for me.
The question is, how do you pull it back? 2&3 are awful. "
I think they are worth a rewatch.
I was not a fan of the 3rd one at all when it came out but rewatched it recently and it was better than I remembered.
I think 2 and 3 suffered from the huge novalty of the first matrix. Nothing could live up to that as it was so new and fresh.
Also the replicating Smith was a huge problem as he was essentially invincible and they did nothing to say why he was defeated after absorbing neo.
But if you can put aside the issues with Smith then on a rewatch they are better films the second time around. |

I absolutely agree with that! I thought the ending was poor in 3 it would’ve been a lot better if they did say why towards the end. In 4 it looks like the agents are back it will be interesting to see and how Neo and Trinity come back… |

I'm avoiding spoilers as best I can. Just hope 4 holds together in a narrative fashion as the machine world was poised to extermination humanity.
So I don't think they can just restart the conflict as in the real world the humans would just be slaughtered within days.
There has to be a reason for neo and trinity to come back other than just the war restarting.
Hopefully no more replicating smiths |
