When they take a good book and move its location to suit their audience
As in The Girl on the Train
Or when they try and remake epic films like The Magnificent Seven and Ben Hur |

Made the good crewmen of Southampton look right numpties. Any more examples?"
The most egregious slander in that pile of shit film was the portrayal of the ship's first mate as a vicious and corrupt villain, when this couldn't have been further from the truth. The man was from the Gallovidian town of Dalbeattie, where there's a memorial dedicated to his actual heroism and sacrifice in saving numerous lives.
When the film came out, his descendants/family all went to see it and were deeply upset by how he was misportrayed.
James Cameron should hang his head in shame for that - preferably at the end of a short length of rope. |

"Watchmen. Tried to put on film what Alan Moore put on paper and just didn't work"
The Extraordinary League of Gentlemen was far far worse, and apart from the changed ending I can put up with Watchmen (TV series was ok too). But Moore should be left on paper |

No disrespect but the movie claim the ship was built by Irish hands. The naval architect was but the Northern Irish shipyard builders in those days considered themselves British.
Plus locked below? That was US quarantine regulations not due to class as such. There was no training nor marked routes for evacuation .

Watchmen has already been mentioned.
Aliens vs predator. I read the original comics as a child and was thoroughly disappointed with the two pieces of trash that were the films. They couldn't have been further from the source material.
The Mask. As above I read the source material as a child and they took a psychopathic loon and watered him down into that Jim Carey drivel. |

It's a generalization to say all the ship builders would have considered themselves British. Many staunch unionists have considered themselves Irish. |

I knew we’d hear from you !
The film played to modern prejudices and didn’t reflect how they felt back then.
But I like the joke built by the Irish, sunk by the British. |

couldn't help myself
I'll agree that the film is inaccurate. I can guarantee that not one of the ship builders was Northern Irish though.
I've always blamed the Iceberg personally. |

Shakespeare in Love.
It came out when I was studying my Eng and med degree, so we were made to watch that, and the Leonardo version of Romeo and Juliet.
Didn’t like either. I adore the 1968 version, that I saw in school, and that we studied alongside the Leo one, to see different acting/media styles.
Same as Titanic, so silly at times.
Although it’s a good remake Let Me In, just doesn’t have the atmosphere of Let the Right One In, and the Hollywood one isn’t a patch on the book xx

He (William Murdoch) is my great great uncle. Cameron gave a bursary for the young people of Dalbeattie to avoid a private law suit. |
