Wow.

The surrounding town is beautiful too. We visited today and were really struck by it all. It reminded us of York, which we also love.

What buildings and/or places make you go "Wow"?

Boston, Lincolnshire

Dover Castle did it for us - just a shame it's so far away.

I lived in Lincoln for many years. There are some fantastic historic buildings and churches in the area.

Did you not visit the castle and the Magna Charter? And the King Richard Sword?

Lincoln is an overlooked gem.

In the UK the beauty of the Gower Peninsula is hard to surpass.

Internationally, few things beat the thrill of crossing Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, the heart of the modern world.

Some of the old Universities in Oxford, the detail is amazing. Nowadays we just slap bricks together.

We enjoyed Lincoln last year. We stayed in a hotel that is a converted church and some of our pictures were taken there with the old church stained glass window in our room.

I am so heavily biased but Kings College in Aberdeen. Every time I walked into there for a tutorial, regardless of how hungover/exhaufucked I was, I was always taken by how beautiful a building it is and the history surrounding it.

I also have a soft spot for St Johns, Cambs. Many happy memories there and it's so imposing, majestic almost and truly incredible to look at.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

My graduation ceremony was at Lincoln Cathedral, preceeded by drinks and buffet at the Castle. I like Lincoln almost as much as I like York.

Lincoln is just up the road from us. Hope you went up and down Steep Hill while you were there.

Recently visited Winchester, lovely cathedral and grounds.

My favourite cathedral so far is Southwell.

York is also lovely, my sister lives there, so I can visit for free

We did go to the castle (not that there's much of the original castle left) and saw the copy of the Magna Carta. We didn't see anything about a sword.

Doncaster & Bembridge

Not been to Lincoln for a few years. Back in the day, my parents bought our first canal boat from Brayford Pool. Spent a few weekends there doing it up before we sailed it back home. Simpler days!

Lincoln is awesome, we nearly bought a house up there. Hubby's father was stationed on one of the RAF bases in the vicinity back in the 80s so lots of fond memories from there. Try to go there once a year.

Have you seen the Lego Durham Cathedral they have built and displayed in there? That really is extraordinary. It's huge and so detailed, inside and out. They are making one of the church in Boston too.

Wow, what a truly amazing building. I was even daft enough to walk up the tower, there is a defibrillator half way up

Stourbridge

Edinburgh in general is a stunning place, as is York and many others.

Try the Roselyn chapel just outside Edinburgh, it’s the one in Dan Brown film the DaVinci code
