"Welsh and English "
I'm Welsh and I hardly know a word of our language
When I was in north Wales even the Polish and Chinese people could speak Welsh fluently! |

It is more predominant in North Wales I believe...My Mum was first language and wanted us to speak it
I heard the Schools in the South don't even teach Welsh now, is that true?

I did not think so - but then some languages come easier to people whose mother tongues are a little guttural?
I love Welsh, really do. |

Probably is true. When I was in school in west Wales there were different classes for Welsh and English speakers.
It's weird how the language has remained in some areas and if you travel a few miles down the road everyone speaks English. |

It is mainly North Wales where they actively speak it now, in some parts of mid Wales, too. I hope they continue to teach the language - it is a reflection of Welsh culture. |

Yeah it is like that in North to Mid Wales. In some areas up this way they have different Schools for Welsh and English streams
I went to C of E School, I couldn't speak English well and got bullied for it by kids and teachers |

As beautiful as it is... not an easy language by comparison to German, French and Italian for example. But definitely interesting - I always think it captures the Welsh soul a bit - when I am in North Wales or the Brecon Beacons, especially on a misty day... |

There is a Welsh community in Patagonia and School children in China learn it. Yet you won't find home languages in English Schools...I use Welsh all the time with my children at work |

West and South Wales is all English speaking with the exception of Carmarthen. People in west Wales sound very much English and after taking the turning for Crymych it all turns Welsh again

That is awesome on both accounts. I think just because it is a relatively small linguistic community, it should still be taught and passed on, for sure. |

I should reawaken my Welsh. I went to Welsh medium nursery school but then we moved to England when I started primary school. It's very dormant now |

Anyone remember that thing as young teens when you'd add "ollog" into the middle of words so the adults had no idea what you were saying?
Eg "what do you think?" Would sound like "wollogot doollogoo yoollogoo thillogink?" |
