I need a job....R is moving to Uni next week, she will be back every weekend for work unless she finds a job there.
As Uni is mega expensive now I wanna help as much as possible.
I spent 10+ yrs doing more education, college, uni etc. Yet still can't get a job.
I can use stuff like Office,adobe photoshop, premiere, basic flash and dreamweaver stuff. Can fix and upgrade pcs as i do my own.
Can photo/video edit. Have started my own business transferring negatives/slides/vhs etc to DVD but its so quiet even after advertising locally, have a website.
My main passion is my notepad of ideas, constantly coming up with film/tv/business/game/improvements for other businesses etc
Would love to see one of my ideas on the big screen but its getting heard by the right people.
I'm fairly shy and don't have much confidence left as I've been pretty much bullied my entire life.
I need a change in my life and i need to make money so I can move out of my parents and give R and me a good life together.
Decided to ask here as this site has all kinds of people all over and is regularly used.

You don't mention any experience? So I'm assuming non of note. At 30. And in the current climate.
Not a great combination. Your post suggests that you are in a dream world with your expectations and your dismissing of macdonalds just reinforces it. You are looking at that sort of work, or shelf stacking or call centres or cleaning. |

Yep zero experience.
Grew up where everyone around me told me go to Uni, you'll give yourself so many more chances of work and be able to have an amazing life.
All those yrs of higher education can't even get me a job at my local supermarket.
Everywhere wants people with experience and no one wants to start someone off.
All these apprenticeships are for 16-24yr olds.
I did apply to Mcdonalds but was refused due to health issues a while ago.
Tend not to mention that on any application form though since I have meds to keep in control.

In fairness even allowing for a gap year and a 5 year course you'dhave graduated several years ago... If you make as many excuses in interviews as you do on this thread it's no wonder you get nothing. Your attitude smacks of being hard done by.
Have you considered doing voluntary work just to get something on your CV? Or bar work? There are plenty of call centres in brum which is only a short commute away... |

10 years at uni?! Well surly you must have some pretty good qualifications? Use them! Or just take anything that pays a reasonable amount of wages? It's a no brainer really! |

Get that CV sorted out and smash it into reed and totaljobs.
I switched from accountancy to IT and I'm doing 1-2nd line support.
You have th basic knowledge by the sounds of it - get some vendor quals (comptia, Cisco, and Microsoft, etc) and start hammering the jobs.
Nothing will drop into your lap so bin that mentality, so you need to start being proactive.
I started with being at the job centre at 9am, home and on the job sites by 10am, and didn't stop until 2pm. Day in and day out - and it paid off.
Try that, and you'll be closer to getting into a nice job |

In your position - aged 30, no experience, still living at home and unable to provide financially for your partner - you can't really afford to be choosy. McDonald's isn't a bad employer. Stacking shelves is not demeaning. Emptying dustbins is a job... would you consider it?
Sure, have dreams about being a playwright or whatever you want to do but don't lose sight of the fact that you need to start at the bottom and work your way up. We've all been there, done that and got the t-shirts.
Work on your dreams in your free time. But be realistic the rest of the time. You're not entitled to anything. Nobody owes you a thing. You need to take control of your life as nobody else will do it for you.
This may come across as harsh but that's possibly the sort of thing you need right now. |

Conversely for me it was the best thing I ever did. It opened doors which would have remained firmly closed had I not got those letters after my name. |

Wow you need to wake up man times are changing, I went to uni to get an education with the prospect of a career not the other way around,
The government use the education system as a means to keep the unemployment figures down and as far getting a job based on your qualifications that depends on your work experience so better try to do voluntary work or any job that incentive will boost your cv and show you're willing to work |
