The Greek thread made me realise that the only Greek word I know is malaka and it's rude.
And people love coming up to me to tell me all the swear words they know in German.
Why is it that we love learning rude words first in foreign languages? It's surely not exactly the best way to make friends, 'Hi, I'm S, malaka!' |

"It's a good question! I guess it's an ice breaker in social situations, and for native speakers it can sound amusing rather than offensive?"
Well said! When someone presents with rude words native to my home language i do giggle but then explain why the phrase should be used in pleasant company. Defo an ice breaker |

"The Danish don’t have very good swear words so they mostly swear in English "
Like the f word, that's true. But you can say the same about 'please'. I probably learned most of the Danish ones but it's been a while since I've spoken the language. |
