How many of you collect stuff or used to?

Stamps, butterflies, coins, dolls, bottle tops, beer mats, insects, sex toys, books, comics... You get the picture...

I used to collect old bottles and jars. I lived near an old dump when I was a kid - it hadn't been used since Victorian times and was rough pitted ground overgrown with rosebay willow herb. I'd go there at weekends and dig around for anything interesting. I built up a large collection of all sorts of glass, porcelain and stoneware, from toothpaste jars to cod bottles. When I left the country, I donated it all to a local museum where it's still on display.

I don t avidly collect anything, but as I come across people on a regular basis who are relocating, and very often downsizing, if they have a collection of anything that they want rid of, providing I think that there is ultimately a profit in it, I'll take it off their hands. Currently handling, wooden shafted golf clubs, Royal Doulton figures, David Winter Cottages, an Elvis Memorabilia collection, a coin collection, a stamp collection, some limied edition plates, one or two Franklin Mint items, and a 1920s wind up gramaphone with a 78 of Cliff Richard and the Drifters, yes The Drifters, as that's what they were before becoming The Shadows which sounds like it was recorded in chip shop with the deep fat fryer keeping tempo, to name but a few items. Who knows what the next person I sell a house to may have to tempt me with?

I have a coin collection, old British coins and some African, Greek and German. Unfortunately, they are in the attic hidden away.

Nowadays, I collect semi precious stones and the odd piece of gold from my prospecting outings.
